Bold shapes, rich colour and a creative home found in Faversham. 🎨

Artist and printmaker Anne Davison began her career in textile design, selling work across New York, Paris, Frankfurt and Osaka. Now her collages and prints retain that love of pattern and colour, while workshops and open-house events connect her with Faversham’s creative community.

🍻 Faversham Hop Festival is back THIS WEEKEND! 🌿🎶

One of Faversham’s biggest weekends of the year is almost here, with the Faversham Hop Festival returning this Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September.

The free festival takes over the town centre for two days of live music, Morris dancing, parades, food, drink and, of course, plenty of hops. This year’s programme features more than 70 bands and performers across five stages, alongside buskers, dance stands and family entertainment.

But have you ever wondered what it actually takes to make the Hop Festival happen?

In the latest edition of Faversham Firework, we went behind the scenes with the team from Community Heritage Events, who coordinate the huge community effort needed to bring the festival to life each year.

From fundraising and organising performers to managing stalls, safety, volunteers and everything happening across the town, it’s a pretty mammoth undertaking. And with around 30,000 people expected to descend on Faversham over the weekend, there’s rather a lot to organise!

The result is something pretty special: a festival that celebrates Faversham’s hop-growing heritage while bringing together local businesses, musicians, performers, volunteers and thousands of visitors.

At Role Play Rascals, children can captain a plane, drive a train, soar into space and explore a world built by Faversham parents Hayley and Rory Gatward. Hayley brought more than a decade of cinema-design experience; signmaker Rory helped build each element from scratch.

Peter Campbell Saunders' figurative paintings are attracting growing interest among private collectors in the UK and internationally. Working in oils, acrylics, and mixed media, his work blends classical atelier technique with contemporary narrative, exploring themes of memory, nostalgia, and human connection.

A graduate of Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, Peter spent over twenty years as an art director and photographer, with work featured in publications including Vogue, Tatler, The Sunday Times, and Esquire. This background informs the strong storytelling and atmospheric quality that defines his paintings today.

Peter exhibits regularly; between the 4th and the 10th of August, you'll have the opportunity to view new artworks at 'Creative Space', Red Lion Lane, Whitstable.
