BANKING ON BEER 🍺

The old Lloyds Bank building on Court Street has had a new lease of life.

The Bank, from Deal-based Time & Tide Brewery, is now pouring craft beer, artisan wines and Neapolitan-style pizza inside one of Faversham’s most recognisable buildings.

A proper addition to the town’s food and drink scene.

🪑 What if a chair could be the centrepiece of a room?

In the latest issue of Faversham Firework, we meet Gabriella James, whose Faversham-based chairmaking business combines traditional craftsmanship with bold contemporary design.

Working with sustainably sourced beech frames and striking woven textiles, Gabriella creates bespoke furniture that transforms everyday pieces into works of art. Her latest collaboration with Whitstable weaver Margo Selby brings together British craftsmanship, colour and pattern in a collection that celebrates the beauty of handmade design.

As Gabriella puts it: "When you own a statement piece of clothing, such as a Hermès scarf or a Louis Vuitton bag, you only need one. Why not do the same thing with a chair?"

FAVERSHAM MY FAVE 💛

“There’s just something special about it.”

Writer Sophie Kemsley reflects on the strange little magic of Faversham — the cobbled streets, the brewery smells, the tiny dogs in expensive outfits and the feeling that somehow everybody knows everybody.

A love letter to the quirks and characters that make the town feel like home.

NEW WINES WITH A LONG HISTORY 🍷

A vineyard tour, local cheeses and wine grown just outside Faversham? Sounds like a holiday abroad — but Brenley Wines is doing it all right here in Kent.

Drawing on generations of farming knowledge, Tom Berry has transformed part of the family farm into a flourishing vineyard producing small-batch English wines rooted in the local landscape.

We visited Brenley to hear how fruit-growing traditions, changing climates and careful craftsmanship are shaping Faversham’s own wine story.
