You can see exactly what's next for your life and still be terrified to let yourself have it.

Dr. Liz DuBois Erskine knows that spot intimately. She works with women right at the precipice, the ones who can picture the bigger thing but get stuck on who do I think I am, or on the very real question of how do I actually pull this off.

Her origin story is the kind that sticks: three women in a row, mid-divorce, no alimony, kids at home, needing to build something fast. She helped them create companies from scratch. Now she blends the psychology of why it feels scary with the strategy of what to do next, and her clients build businesses that are sustainable, profitable, and leave them more time with their kids, not less.

Simple to say. Brutal to actually audit.

Look at the five people you spend the most time with and ask, honestly, do I want a version of their life? Because you're becoming the average of that room whether you chose it on purpose or not. Curate the room.

Disney doesn't sell theme park tickets. It sells the promise that your family will remember this trip for three generations.

The hot pavement. The two-hour line. The fiberglass elephant spinning through the air. Nobody's buying that. They're buying the magic.

Here's the part a lot of women founders miss. You're doing the same thing, only backward. You're pricing the hours. The deliverable. The hot amusement park. Not the transformation your client actually showed up for.

Name what you really sell. Then charge for that.

What are you charging for right now that isn't the real product?

What if the person who hurt you wasn't withholding love? What if they genuinely didn't have more to give?

Andrea Engstrom calls it a capacity issue. You were expecting a gallon. They were at their pint. That gap is real and it hurt and it was never actually about you.
Assigning new meaning to that doesn't erase the hurt. It just stops the hurt from writing your future.

Walmart. Bottom shelf. The aisle stocked for women whose hair refuses to behave.

Find the olive oil mousse. If it costs more than six dollars, put it back; you've got the wrong one. Two baseball-sized scoops on soaking wet hair, scrunch, walk away. Don't touch it again.

That's the whole method. Stop managing the curl. Let it be as big as it wants to be.

Funny how nobody gives women that same advice about their ambition. We spend a fortune trying to flatten the parts of ourselves that were never meant to lie quiet.

Messy hair. Big dreams. Same energy.

The harshest critic you'll ever pitch to lives rent-free inside your own skull. And for most women, she sounds suspiciously like the woman who raised them.

Scaling anything, a company, a nonprofit, a project at your kid's school, means going up against a voice that learned to speak before you did. Naming it is where the work starts.

Someone told her she could run for Congress. Not with an undergrad degree, though. "Go to law school or get a PhD. Pick one."

Most of us hear something like that and feel flattered for an afternoon. Then we go back to the ad layouts on the big fancy Mac and quietly forget the whole thing.

She enrolled in a PhD in conflict analysis and resolution.
That's the gap. It's rarely talent. It's rarely luck. It's the willingness to actually take the advice that scares you.

Someone told you recently you were built for more. What did you do with it?

The fastest way to stay stuck is to keep the hard thing quiet.

Say you're struggling out loud, and watch how quickly people step up. Say nothing, and no one can hand you the job, the intro, the way out. Silence isn't dignity. It's a trap dressed up as strength.

What if you've been pricing yourself like the thing is ordinary when, actually, you're one of the only people who can do it?

So many women undervalue exactly what they're best at because it flows. Because it doesn't feel like work. Because it never crossed their minds that their ease is someone else's wall.

That's the clue. Charge accordingly.

The thing standing between most women and their next level isn't a skill gap. It's a voice that sounds like their mother.

You can hire someone to teach you funnels, S corps, clicks to cash. What you can't outsource is the moment you realize the life you want requires becoming someone your upbringing never prepared you to be. That's where women get stuck. Not in the strategy. In the permission.

This carousel covers:
- Why fear of judgment hits women founders harder than men
- The 'hospice bed' test for whose opinion is actually worth your fear
- How courage really gets built (hint: it's a rep, not a feeling)
