Lochaber Action for Moss Park (LAMP) had a very successful prize bingo in the Railway club on Friday 8th September. The his was to raise money to build and furnish a summer House in the grounds of Moss park for use of the residents and their families.

The magnificent sum of £6012.00 was raised. We would like to say a big thank you all local businesses who donated prizes for the event, Also to all those who organized the event and especially to those who attended the event and made it a success is was.

We are now working flat out with local tradesmen to get the summer house built.

Watch this space for news on the progress and the grand opening.

LAMP would like to say a big thanks to Moss Park for Inviting all those who helped in the campaign to get the care home transfers over to Highland council and NHS Highland. A good time was had by all great buffet and wonderful music by Paula MacAskill. Handover is progressing well but they are still looking for accommodation for some members of staff. Please contact Moss Park Direct if you know of any accommodation available.

We saved Moss Park from closure, and I am absolutely delighted to celebrate with friends and family of residents.

When HC-One first announced closure of the Care Home, I vowed to the people of Lochaber that I’d do everything in my power to protect Moss Park from closure. We did it.

I am grateful to the leadership of Highland Council and NHS Highland for their efforts to transfer the care home into public ownership. Alongside reopening the Mackintosh Centre in Mallaig and redesigning care from Dail Mhor, this could be a new era for care services in Lochaber.

I work tirelessly on behalf of the people of Lochaber and I am delighted with what we’ve achieved in this instance. The next steps are to see Moss Park reach full capacity. I will support the management in any way I can, which will help ease the pressure of delayed discharge in Raigmore and the Belford

PRIZE BINGO Friday 8th August

Lochaber Action for Moss Park, are going to be holding a Prize Bingo in the Railway club on Friday 8th August. The purpose of the event is to raise money to purchase and erect an Gazzebo/ Pergola in the grounds of the home so that the residents can get use the garden and get some shelter if the sunshine is too hot or its just light rain.
Details of times and cost will be published soon. We are looing for donations of prizes for the Bingo / raffle and also bottles for bottle stall.
If you would like to donate a Prize or bottle, either drop it into the home or private message LAMP and we can arrange for collection.

LAMP would like to thank all those involved in the negotiations to facilitate this handover also those who help us campaign and get this outcome. When LAMP started this campaign we were told that it would take a miracle or we would need to pull a While Rabbit out of a hat to stop the home closing. Well 🎩🐇 we have done it.

NHS Highland and The Highland Council have completed the service transfer of Moss Park care home from HC-One.

On 7 November 2024, NHS Highland and The Highland Council confirmed their intention to work to secure a purchase of the care home by the Highland Council and a transfer of service provision to NHS Highland.

All necessary contracts to enable service continuity in the care home have been completed, and NHS Highland is now operationally responsible for the service.
