Ateny Dismisses Alleged $15 Million Transfer Documents as Fake

Government spokesperson Ateny Wek Ateny has dismissed as “fake, fraudulent and malicious” documents circulating online that allegedly show a $15 million transfer and the appointment of opposition figure Nhial Deng Nhial to a senior role at CapitalPay.

Speaking in Juba, Ateny defended Crawford Capital, saying the company was contracted by the government in September 2024 to support its digital transformation and revenue-management programmes.

He said the documents are not authentic and ordered an investigation into their origin and circulation, warning that those responsible could face legal action.

Ateny urged the public and media to rely only on official and verified information.

Workers in Juba accuse Kenyan businesswoman of withholding salaries for months

Several Kenyan and South Sudanese workers in Juba are appealing for help after claiming they have gone for months without receiving their salaries.

The Kenyan workers, who asked not to be identified, said they travelled to Juba after being recruited by Ann Kathure Rutere, but are now struggling to survive without their expected wages.

Rutere is the wife of South Sudanese businessman Akol Emmanuel Ayii Madut, founder and chairman of Trinity Group. His businesses include Trinity Energy, mGURUSH Mobile Money, Amoco Construction Group, RAK Media and other businesses.

The Sentry has previously reported on business dealings involving Ayii and Rutere, including their business interests and activities linked to corrupt activities in oil sector.

The workers are calling on Kenyan and South Sudanese authorities to intervene, help recover their alleged unpaid salaries and assist them in finding a safe way home.

Efforts to reach Rutere for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publication.

Shilluk youths have reportedly refused to attend the honour ceremony for General Johnson Olony in Juba today, citing growing concerns over what they describe as his failure to deliver meaningful achievements for the Shilluk Kingdom.

According to the youths and critics, the Agwelek movement was initially presented as a struggle to defend Shilluk interests, land, identity, and the rights of the Shilluk people. However, they now question whether those objectives have been achieved.

Some youths argue that General Olony has not demonstrated sufficient tangible results for the Shilluk community since his political transition. They further accuse him of turning the Agwelek cause toward his own political interests rather than maintaining its original community-focused objectives.

BREAKING NEWS: Brother of Founding SPLM Member Arok Thon Arok Dies

JUBA, South Sudan — Major General Kuir Thon Arok Bul Ajang, former Deputy Commissioner of Police in Jonglei State, has passed away.

Maj. Gen. Kuir Thon Arok was the brother of the late Major Arok Thon Arok, a founding member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).

He served as Deputy Commissioner of the National Police Service in Jonglei State from 2008 to 2009, dedicating years of his career to public service.

His death marks the loss of a senior police officer and public servant who contributed to South Sudan’s security sector.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may God comfort his family, colleagues and loved ones during this difficult time. 🕊️

The Hon. Minister delivered a formal remark at the four-day China-Africa Digital Capacity Building and Cooperation Conference in the City of Hangzhou, China.

ICT Ministers from several African countries and Chinese government agencies are convening in Hangzhou to deliberate on potential areas of partnership.

Aweil East County Denies Arrest Order Against Kola Abuk, Calls Viral Document “AI-Generated Fake”

The Office of the Commissioner of Aweil East County has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that Commissioner Mawien Mawien Kuol ordered the arrest of Kola Abuk.

The viral posts alleged that Kola Abuk was being targeted for allegedly promoting homosexuality on social media and that the county was starting a crackdown on g**s and le****ns in Aweil East County.

Speaking to the Aweil News Agency, the Office Manager of Aweil East County, Aliel Achuil Manykom, said the document is fake.

“The news and documents circulating on social media claiming that the Commissioner has ordered the arrest of Kola Abuk did not come from our office,” Aliel said.

“If you look at the documents, they do not match our office letterhead or the Commissioner’s signature. These are AI-generated documents created by enemies of the Commissioner.”

Aliel also said the county office has no authority to arrest Kola Abuk and does not even know where he is located.

“We do not have the right to arrest Kola Abuk, and we don’t even know where he is,” he added.

“So please disregard the news circulating that the Commissioner needs to arrest Kola. We have nothing to do with him.”

Last week, a video of Kola Abuk circulated online. In the video, he was asking people who are interested in his lifestyle to contact him privately, saying he would “teach them.”

The county office has urged the public to ignore the fake document and get information only from official sources.
