August has been a brilliant month for ITV ScreenWorks! 🎬

We’ve loved welcoming aspiring creatives to Tyneside Cinema for two Summer School sessions, meeting some amazing people and giving participants the chance to get hands-on with camera, sound, teamwork and more.

From discovering what happens behind the scenes to connecting with others who share a passion for screen, it’s been fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and creativity across both sessions🙌🏻

A huge thank you to Tyneside Talent Unit for helping make the sessions possible, and to everyone who joined us and made August so special!

And this is just the beginning… 👀 Our Discover Film Making programme is coming up in September, offering even more opportunities to build practical skills and explore a future in TV and film.

And that's a wrap for the ITV ScreenWorks Summer School's at the Tyneside Cinema. It's been a pleasure to work with The Talent Unit team to deliver engaging sessions to encourage people to consider a career in the screen Industry. Many of the young learners have signed up to do further training with us as they embark on an exciting future in the creative sector.

We’re getting ready to welcome our first groups onto two brilliant free training opportunities for people across the North East who want to explore TV, film and digital production!

No experience? No problem!
Never been on a set? Totally fine!
Not sure where you fit yet? That’s what ITV ScreenWorks is here for!

Coming up this September:

🎬 Discover Film Making
A free 5-day programme at Beacon Films CIC HQ in Byker, where you’ll get hands-on, work as part of a team and start learning what goes into making film and TV content.
Dates: 5, 12, 19, 27 September + 3 October

🎬 Production Runner’s Course
A free course at ITV Studios in Gateshead, giving you an introduction to what a Production Runner does and how they support productions behind the scenes.
Dates: 5, 6, 12, 19 + 20 September
Time: 10:00am to 4:00pm each day

A little look back at last week’s ITV Screenworks x Tyneside Talent Unit Collaboration Event! 🎬

It was fantastic to bring together some amazing groups for a day of collaboration, creativity and idea sharing. We loved seeing everyone bring their own skills, experience and ideas to the table and work together to develop some brilliant concepts👏🏻

The session was a great opportunity to connect with other creatives, build confidence, share knowledge and get a real insight into the collaborative process behind screen and creative projects.

From pitching ideas to working as a team, there were some fantastic conversations and plenty of creative energy throughout the session. 🎥

Now, we’re getting ready for Discover Film Making, our free 5-day ITV ScreenWorks training programme at Beacon Films CIC in Byker.

It’s a chance to get hands-on, work as part of a team and start learning what goes into creating film and television content. From asking questions and planning ideas to practical production skills, this programme is designed to help you build confidence and discover where you could fit in the screen industry.

ITV ScreenWorks is here to help more people across the North East explore TV, film and digital production in a friendly, practical and supportive way.

Our free Summer School sessions at Tyneside Cinema are a chance to get hands-on, meet the team and find out what working behind the scenes could look like. You’ll get to try practical production activities like camera, sound and teamwork, with no pressure and no experience needed.

And if you’re ready to take things further, we also have Discover Film Making and our first Production Runner’s Course coming up in September.

Discover Film Making is a free 5-day training programme at Beacon Films CIC HQ in Byker, introducing participants to television and film-making. It’s designed to help you build practical skills, learn from people in the industry and start understanding where you could fit.

Our Production Runner’s Course will take place at ITV Studios in Gateshead and will introduce participants to the role of a Production Runner, helping you understand what the job involves and how runners support productions behind the scenes.

A relaxed, three-hour session where you can get a feel for TV, film and video production, meet the team and find out more about the opportunities available through ITV ScreenWorks.

ITV ScreenWorks is for people aged 16+ who live in Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Northumberland, Sunderland or County Durham.

We’re looking to work with people who are not currently in full-time education, employment or training.

We especially welcome applications from Deaf, Disabled and Neurodivergent participants, and people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

You don’t need to have worked on a set before.
You don’t need to know all the job titles.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.

We’re here to help young people across the North East explore TV, film and digital production in a real, practical way. From camera skills and data wrangling to teamwork, confidence building and finding out what happens behind the scenes, our training is all about giving things a go.

No experience? No problem. You don’t need to know all the job titles or have worked on a set before. We’re here to help you try new things, ask questions and discover where you could fit in the screen industry.
