Be careful when you book a venue with a sound limiter.
When the music goes above a certain level the limiter cuts all the power to the venue. The music and lights all cut out.
Controlling audio levels is not a bad thing and can keep everyone’s hearing safe however some of these limiters are overly sensitive.
Last year I had some gigs where the limiters were cutting out when the crowd were singing and it was the crowd singing along to the music that was causing it to trip… at one venue, I had the bass turned off completely and it was still cutting when the crowd were singing.
It really kills the vibe when you have to tell a crowd to stop making so much noise.. to stop singing along to the tracks… to stop having so much fun 😳
It’s also really worrying for the DJ because when it cuts off suddenly, that can be dangerous to the health of the DJs equipment.
So.. I guess what I’m saying is….
If you have a party booked that has a limiter, ask how sensitive it is.. perhaps go and check it out when there’s a function on 🤷♂️
We just want you to have the best possible party and make memories!
