LIFE EXPECTANCY IS STILL YOUNG!!!
I was watching the television the other night and saw a funeral plan advert for over fifties. It made me feel like throwing a brick. These funeral plan companies sell you "death" in the same way the shops on the high street sell you Christmas i.e. well before its time. One thing having an employer and being in a job prevents you from seeing is how much potential one year of life can give you. Some people have gone from not having two pennies to rub together into becoming a millionaire in a space of a year. The workplace has so few opportunities for growth and development that we are conditioned into believing you can't do much with one year of your life. When you see how much opportunity one year of life can offer you never will you think "I'm 65 retired, only seven irrelevant years away from life expectancy". You instead think "You can do and achieve a huge amount in one year and therefore over seven years you can do an amazing amount". This thinking gives you a real appetite for life and makes you think "Some people live to be a hundred if I was one of them I would have another thirty five years ahead of me. Think of what I can do with thirty five years. That's more than half the age I am now". You think "Thirty five years is the amount of time that's elapsed between 1990 and now. That's ages ago". You then think "For once in my life I will think positive and say that I could live to be a hundred if I make more responsible lifestyle choices and stop drinking and smoking and eating kebabs like a student does". Even if you don't make it to a hundred its perfectly possible you could make it to your mid nineties and that's still thirty years and that's a huge number of years where you can achieve huge amounts when you think of what you can achieve over just one year. Its not true that you are "over the hill" once you get into your sixties. What you need is to start eating the tinned salmon sandwiches, the grapes, eat Italian but using wholewheat not white pasta, drink 3.7 Litres of water/day and build yourself up to doing two mile walks per day drinking an extra 300ml of water for every mile walked. To hell with funeral plan companies!!! This capitalist society accused me of having an attitude problem; what a cheek!!!
I don't think this man aged ninety finishing a marathon would disagree with anything I've said
