Have you ever seen Bee Poo? 👀✨🐝

Well yesterday I caught it, literally, on my sleeve!
I was helping out a wee tired bee by escorting it to this Rose.

Bee poo is basically digested pollen and nectar.
Real life flower power ✨🌺🤣

Bees are very clean workers and usually avoid doing this in the hive, So when they’re out foraging, nature takes care of business!

It’s definitely my highest honour. 10/10 experience. Highly recommend. Curiosity got the best of me and I obviously sniffed it, breaking news, was like honey 🤣

What a day! 🤣🌿

Rain dripping from the end of my nose but still plenty to see out and about!

Today's canal walk brought me face to face with a pair of mute swans. You can 'usually' tell them apart by looking at the k**b above their beak? Males (cobs) usually have a larger, more pronounced k**b than females (pens).

Found loads of sweet cicely seeds. This beautiful hedgerow plant has a distinctive aniseed flavour and been used for centuries in cooking and herbal traditions!

Along the water's edge, I was surprised to spot tiny tadpoles, and then there were the mallards. Not every drake finds a mate during the breeding season, so groups of males often gather together in what birdwatchers sometimes call "bachelor flocks" or
"bachelor squads". It's a common sight on canals and ponds throughout the summer

A soaking wet walk, but proof that every outing has a story if you slow down and look closely.

This is a series of coloured character cartoon drawings my boy has done by hand over this past month. He was completely inspired by the absolutely amazing 🤍✨I’m so proud of how much passion and effort he put into this wee self directed project. 11yrs old, Coming in everyday after school and weekends concentrating on his colours, characters and researching what to do next. has also been a huge influence on my boy with his very fun arty style. You know how much Alexander adores you. Thank you!

He tells me He’s not quite finished the series yet but I wanted to put them on the grid. 🫶🏼✨

During WWII. Imported fruit like oranges disappeared almost overnight due to rationing and disrupted supply routes. That meant a serious risk of vitamin C deficiency, especially for wee ones.

So the government did something a bit different. They launched a nationwide foraging campaign and paid children to collect rosehips from hedgerows.

These wee berries are packed with vitamin C.
Millions were gathered, processed, and turned into rosehip syrup, which was given out across the country to keep people healthy during the war.

A wild plant, a national effort, and a hedgerow remedy that helped keep Britain going. Probably one of my favourite foraging stories!

If you’re lucky enough to have older relations ask them if they helped pick rosehips! I’d love to hear their wee stories too!
