ARTIST BIO: “My name is Martika, though most people in the alt sphere know me as Rosey Reign. As a child I
was captivated by dark fantasy - vampires, haunted heroines, and worlds where sorrow becomes power. Later I fell in love with dark fashion and the work of Alexander McQueen (R.I.P., the eternal king of darkness), whose art taught me to embrace taboo, mourning, and myth.
My work is shaped by gothic aesthetics, the occult, counterculture, dark fantasy, and the emotional landscapes of mental health. Photography became the language I couldn’t speak out loud: a way to transform heaviness into something haunting and intimate - or loud and
protective when needed.

OH MY GOTH was created in three minutes at a renaissance faire with only daylight and a textured wall, yet it became one of my most honest works: a moment of Victorian mourning brought into the present, featuring gothic influencer Ana Soprano (whom I didn’t realize was an influencer until the images went viral).

I am a self-taught photographer, (art) director, stylist, editor and retoucher, and I graduated from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute in Fashion & Branding (2016). Outside the lens, I write and produce dark pop music under the name Rosey Reign, continuing the same world-building through sound - including creating my own album artwork.”
