As we come to the end of another year, we want to take a moment to reflect on how far Scottish Loyalists has come.

Over the past year, our page has continued to grow in both numbers and engagement, bringing together loyalists from across Scotland and beyond.

We’ve shared our history, marked important anniversaries, remembered those who gave their lives, promoted events, and stood firm in defending our culture, heritage, and traditions.

What’s been most encouraging is the level of support shown, new followers joining the page, old friends reconnecting, and strong discussions taking place daily.

This growth shows that our community remains proud, active, and determined to ensure our traditions are not forgotten.

Thank you to everyone who has liked, followed, shared, and contributed throughout the year. Your support keeps this page going and strengthens the wider loyalist family.

As we look ahead to the new year, we do so united, respectful of our past, and confident in our future.

Today we remember a defining moment in our shared history, when the brave Apprentice Boys of Derry took a stand for faith and freedom. On the 18th of December 1688, with courage beyond their years, they shut the gates of the city against the forces of King James II, refusing to surrender.

That bold and defiant act sparked the Siege of Derry and became a powerful symbol of Protestant resistance, loyalty, and determination in the face of overwhelming odds. Their actions echoed far beyond the city walls, inspiring generations who value liberty, faith, and steadfast resolve.

At Scottish Loyalists, we honour their bravery, their sacrifice, and their unwavering stand. The closing of the gates was more than an act of defence, it was a declaration that freedom is worth standing firm for, no matter the cost.

No Surrender.

Tomorrow marks the Scottish Amalgamated Committee’s annual Shutting of the Gates procession, and more importantly, our Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving.

This year, the service will be conducted by our own Chaplain of the General Committee, Brother Peter Ross, and I urge all Brothers to attend and show their respect to Brother Ross and to those we gather to remember.

I would like to wish everyone travelling to Glasgow an enjoyable and safe day. Please carry out our procession, as always, with dignity and decorum. Follow the guidance of our Blue Coat Senior Marshal Team and work with them to ensure the safety of all in attendance.

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

John Carmichael
Chairman
