Today we brought the lambs in for worming and treating for liver fluke. Goats came in for spot-on treatment for external parasites since they can be prone to lice and have been a little itchy lately!

A quick note on why we do this:
🪱 Worms can affect growth, condition, and overall health, so regular monitoring and targeted treatments keep them in top shape while helping slow resistance
🌿 Liver fluke is common in wetter ground, and treating at the right time helps prevent serious liver damage

We also trialed our homemade race for the first time and it worked brilliantly!

After milking Sophie this morning, I may have rushed her breakfast a bit (sorry Sophie!). Meanwhile the weather was absolutely miserable, so Lilly the pony decided she needed to be let back inside not for shelter of course, but to hoover up any crumbs before heading straight back out into the rain. She’s a Shetland… she’s built for this life 😆

And just to make her point crystal clear, Sophie marched herself right back up onto the milking stand like, “Excuse me, human… I wasn’t finished with my breakfast.”

Never a dull moment! 🤦‍♀️💕

🐑 Ellie’s Weather Report 🐑

Last night, Ellie (our resident diva sheep) decided she’d had quite enough of this miserable weather. Ears drooped, eyes as sad as a lost puppy, she turned her full charm on Florence

It seems Ellie had checked the forecast and concluded that a lady of her standing simply should not be expected to endure such conditions 🌧️

And, of course, Florence caved (Let’s be honest, Ellie has her wrapped around her little hoof)

So in she went, warm, dry, and smug tucked up in the tunnel with an extra scoop of feed for good measure. 💁‍♀️🐏

This morning she tried the same diva antics with me, hoping for another “emergency” feed. Nice try, Ellie… we see you! 😆

The old girl Josephine, who belongs to Florence, has moved inside for a little while. Her arthritis has been giving her some trouble with the cold and damp weather, so she’s now resting on a nice thick, warm straw bed. It already seems to be helping her a lot! 💛

She’s enjoying the extra comfort (and attention!) while she takes it easy. We’ll keep giving her all the love and care she needs to stay happy and cosy this winter 🐑💖

Lambs on the loose! 🐑💨

Their final act of rebellion before relocation to the top orchard, out on the road at 7am, just as the boss drove off. Perfect timing, naturally. Nothing like being jolted awake by the sound of chaos and having to play shepherd before coffee ☕😅

Electric fence fixed (for now), lambs back in jail, and my heart rate slowly returning to normal. They definitely knew what they were doing… little woolly delinquents 😂

🐑 This little genius managed to get their head stuck in the chicken feeder… but hey, at least they’re not in the garden!...

🐑 This little genius managed to get their head stuck in the chicken feeder… but hey, at least they’re not in the garden! Counting my blessings one fiasco at a time. 😂 Thankfully, they’ll be back in the top orchard this weekend for everyone’s sanity (mostly mine)

You crouch down to give one of the girls a nice gentle fuss and the next thing you know, you’ve been ambushed! 😆

Apparently, “personal space” is not a concept lambs understand. One minute you’re scratching a chin, the next you’ve got a fluffy missile trying to stand on your shoulders like you’re some sort of climbing frame

Moral of the story: never trust the silence in a field with pet lambs. It’s just the calm before the pounce! 🐏💨💚
