I’m hosting a Christmas lunch with the excellent team at London’s Community Kitchen (next to Harrow Leisure Centre) on 18th December.

I know there are people in Harrow who may not get to enjoy a Christmas meal this year, or who might be facing Christmas Day alone. If you know someone who would benefit from joining us - or if you’d like to nominate a resident, neighbour, or couple to share lunch with me on the 18th - please get in touch.

Last night, Team Red Cup and CEO Zaiya, spent the evening volunteering with Life in London Trust, a charity dedicated to helping people experiencing homelessness across our city.

As we shared hot meals, hot drinks, warm blankets, toiletries, Christmas gifts, chocolates and so much more, we had heartfelt conversations and were reminded of something truly profound: kindness costs nothing, but it means everything. 🤗

The people we met shared stories of strength, courage and hope and it reminded us that behind every statistic is someone’s son, daughter, friend or neighbour. No one should have to face a cold winter night alone. Reena spoke to one gentleman who was made homeless a week ago, after losing his job in hospitality after 20 years. That really hit hard for us. 😔

Zaiya and Henal were on the hardest part of the volunteering role….the buckets 🪣, along with several others. Thankfully, people were in a generous Christmas giving mood and together, the charity raised almost £950 last night in cash and card donations 🙌🏼

This Christmas, we’re asking our community to come together. A small donation, a few hours of your time or even spreading the word can make a world of difference. The charity also has an Amazon wish list, and donations are needed throughout the year. This is a monthly event, happening on the first Saturday of each month, at St Martins-in-the-Fields at Trafalgar Square.

Our next Knit & Stitch Group is on Friday; 31 October and we’d love for you to join us – and maybe bring a friend along too!
