Finally found a new hook!

Hey all, hope yre all well. I’ve been using Nash Claws for quite a while now, pretty much since their release. But I’ve been having a terrible time getting hold of them, so I made the decision 6 months ago to find a new hook pattern.

I’ve been trying different patterns and got really close a few times but fell at the final hurdle due to strength. I fish mainline braid on a snaggy lake, (lillies and a bit of w**d) so I need a STRONG 💪 hook. I prefer a beaked point and a pattern that I can use for Popups, wafters or bottom baits alike, ……it’s great for confidence if you only have to carry one hook pattern, in one size.

So after a while I finally gave the crank a go. I really didn’t think they’d be strong enough but I’ve seen some good anglers using them and thought what the heck, give it a try. Wish I’d have done it rudy sooner!

2 month later and I’ve landed a fair few bigguns on them now. I’ve had some proper big scraps using them and have landed EVERYTHING I’ve hooked (touch wood), including plenty of tench, which is a good sign IMO. (Had a double figure tench on them yesterday on a 18mm bottom bait 😮)

So yea! This is my new hook and I can totally recommend em. I’m using the X version here in the photo but also would be happy using the normal if I didn’t need the extra strength. And just in case you’re not aware, no sponsor or anything, all bought using my own cash!

I’m off now, hope you’re all good. I know content has been light but I’ve been super busy building my bro in law a website and doing a few home bits and pieces. Struggling this session, lost a fish within a few hours of arriving on Sunday, and just lost another today…. It hurts! I’ve only lost two all year for gods sake, now two on the bounce! 😥

One of the smaller residents in my syndicate water. But not a small fish... even if you sometimes hear me talk about small fish, I'm just speaking relative to the rest of the stock. Still a whacker in my eyes!

Well that’s gotta be one of the hottest days I’ve spent on the bank…got here this morning at 5am. By 8am was hiding in my bivvy like the melting wuss I was… by 6pm I finally started getting set up. Rods finally in for 10pm. Great angling Rob! 😂😂

So I haven’t used Chods that much for quite a while now. They were getting used by most very much like the Ronnie is now (though not quite as much)…. Wonder if we’ve gone full circle?

We’re dangling…. First ever chuck with a new bait. A mixture of excitement and a little lack of my usual confidence. One part of my ‘critical triangle’ is different, feels weird 😕

As you can see below I’m fishing with my tips up… doing that to 1) look cool and 2) combat the marginal w**d in my swim. This way my heavy braid will sink from the rig until just past the w**d and then come up to my rod tip, almost like using a back lead. Which is ideal as I’d never fish with a back lead in w**d like this.

How are you all? Looks like slightly better weather coming in Wed/Thurs this week… better for fishing that is, not tanning 🙂
