Approaching 8 years of creating board game content, what started as sharing a few pictures of a new found hobby led me to any incredible community where I am thankful to have met some amazing people.

If you're ever contemplating doing some, just do it.

Christmas party season has officially begun and what a way to kick it off with and !

It's been a big year with Asmodee celebrating their 30th Birthday, the launch of their amazing new rebrand and pushing further towards their goal of seeing more people, play more games more often.

What a truly amazing evening we had at , I got to spend time with some incredible friends, , , , , , and many more. As well as meet some new ones too.

We played lots of games, I got my arse handed to me as both Rebel and Imperial with the Intro Battle of Star Wars Unlimited as well as the Battle of Hoth, thanks .

Also got to play Take Time, Brick Like This and the classic that is Dobble. We had a very competitive mini-game Hot Potato.

Thank you and for such a fun event to end what has been an incredible year. Looking forward to seeing all that 2026 brings.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

This week we're shelling out some justice with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Unmatched by .

🎲 Gameplay 🎲

It's turtle time in the latest co-operative Unmatched and you'll be playing as the lean, green fighting team taking on the roles of Leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey along with their trusted sidekicks to defeat either Shredder or Krang.

The game consists of multiple rounds with both players and villains taking turns determined by the initiative deck. The cards will reveal whose turn it is, along with actions for right now as well as actions for end of round once all initiative cards have been drawn.

On their turn, players can take 2 of 3 actions;

🔀 Manoeuvre - Players take a card from their deck to their hand and may move themselves and their sidekick the number of spaces their character allows.

⚡ Scheme - Players can play a scheme card from their hand to use it's special abilities

🥷🏼 Attack - Play an attack card from their hand to initiate combat with a villain

In the initiative deck villains and their minions also take turns, these largely involve moving to the nearest player fighter and initiating combat.

At the end of each round there are a number of actions to undertake, during this phase the threat track will advance based on the requirements on the villains initiative card. Once the threat tracker reaches the end it enacts the villains objective which is different for each villain. We played Shredder and his objective is to make all the boroughs fall.

The heroes in a half shells objective is to defeat shredder and they can decide to defeat his minions on the way however these don't have any effect on the end game.

We started off quite strong, I played Mikey and took the fight directly to Shredder resulting in both Leo and Donnie to come to my aid. Donny couldn't shake Wingnut throughout the whole game who kept attacking him resulting in Donny's demise. The remaining brothers fought valiantly however New York's protectors failed to live up to their name. What

Last night I had an incredible time at the Indie Designer Showcase at , playing a range of upcoming releases from some amazing designers and publishers. Huge thanks to Mike at and everyone involved in organizing such a brilliant event!

🛼Roller Disco by - You’re jam skaters circling a mirror ball, playing sequences of skate cards to “move on up” or “get on down.” Jam cards let you skip or flip direction mid-skate for a stylish 180. I’ve loved this one since early playtests — a captivating, clever card-shedding game.

🤡 Tricky Landing by - A chaotic mix of trick-taking and dexterity! Throw cards onto a landing pad to join or start tricks — hit the target to score, miss and it’s -2 points. We didn’t finish our game, but the laughter and chaos around the table said it all.

🦔 Disappearing Act by - A charming abstract game where players pull magic bubbles from a bag, forming sets of matching colours to score. Unlock powers to combine diagonally or chain bigger combos — simple, clever, and satisfying.

🦆 Ducks in a Row by - Play duck cards to your row or the pond to maximise points. Everyone chooses simultaneously, and the lowest card goes first. It’s quick, cheeky, and sure to have opponents quacking “What the duck!?”

🎣 Reel Rivals by - Cosy looks, chaotic gameplay. Place tiles to build a shared pond, claiming spots for fish or bird points. Flooding opponents’ tents to reclaim control made this one live up to its name — pure rivalry from start to finish.

🌺 Before the Rain by & — A gorgeous push-your-luck game using tarot-sized cards. Collect pollen before the rain hits, then dash back to the hive to bank points. Beautiful artwork and a tense finale, and I may have ended the night with the highest score recorded! 😅

Most of these games are set to release sometime next year (2026) if you have any questions about any of them I'd love to hear them. I'll do my best to share any kickstarter updates as they come in.

Yesterday I had the incredibly opportunity to attend mini-event at the celebrating their 30th birthday.

A huge thank you to and for the invitation.

I was particularly excited to demo Double Catan with (yes you heard that right). I saw this being teased at but I couldn't find any information. We only managed to try one of the mini-games yesterday but I was sold. I still have a soft spot for as I genuinely wouldn't be posting here without it.

There were a lot of different types of Dobble to play, as well as a giant version of Asmodee World where you can complete fun quests to find hidden objects with a spattering of Asmodee game easter eggs.

I also had the opportunity to see some amazing Instagram friends (in no particular order), , , , , , and .

We also found some time to grab some food, have a few drinks yet despite spending most of the day together we only played one game 😂

☄️ Interstellar Adventures ☄️

These are the missions of the starship The Atlas. It's latest journey, a cryptic signal from a previously unknown planet. Led by Captain Silna the crew scramble to decipher the code and boldly game where no man has played before.

In this escape room inspired game by , players work through a deck of cards to decipher a cryptic signal, similar to other escape games such as the Unlock series, players investigate each card to work out which numbered card in the deck is the next puzzle piece on their journey.

I have a bit of a soft spot for this game after playing an early prototype last year at the UK Games Expo however at that stage the artwork hadn't been worked fully on and so to play the prototype with the incredible artwork by was amazing and added to the immersive experience of being in a spaceship with your crew, working together to complete the mission.

What I love about Interstellar Adventures is the versatility in the puzzles, much like an actual escape room there isn't just one type of puzzle to decipher, which I love as we found there were certain puzzles that leaned more towards the skills of other people we were playing with. The game also has a few extra puzzles, almost like side missions away from the main story.

The only negative is that I only got to try episode one in the prototype and it left me wanting more therefore I am really excited to try both episode 2 and 3 which will launch as part of the Kickstarter which goes live tomorrow, 1st October.

I have shared the link in my bio so you can go check it out.

🎲 Gameplay 🎲

In Pergola, players are curated the perfect gardens to attract wildlife. On their turn players choose from 4 available tools, take any components depicted on it to enrich your garden and take the action that is on the action board from where you took your tool from.

This is an incredibly simple game, players will always take a tool to gain components and take actions however the beauty is in the wide range of ways to accumulate points.

The game is so satisfying and the multiple ways of scoring points ensure for lots of different strategies and a load of replayability.

This game is definitely on my list, you get so much value in the box with a custom gametrayz, wooden and punchboard components as well as cute little flower pots to track your turns.

So today marks 28 trips around the sun for me, my incredible wife made a board game inspired cake to celebrate.

Barbecubes by was on my birthday list this year and so it made sense to make this delicious tin game into my birthday cake.

I have been somewhat absent from Instagram recently, for no other reason than just not having the time or energy to put into it. However, I've just returned from our annual holiday in the Lake District and this time I had a beaut of a game with me.

In The Lakes Card Game, players are exploring the Lake District and scoring points based on different locations or notable figures. There are 7 different categories of cards, Lakes, Nature, Mountains, Fells, Forests, Valleys and People.

Players take their turns by moving the explorer either horizontally and vertically across the grid of cards, landing on either a face up or face up card and taking said card. This card may help them towards their end game objectives as well as scoring the points shown on the top left corner of the card.

The game ends when there are no more cards in either the column or row of where the explorer last landed. Players count up the points on the cards they collected as well as work out any mission objectives they've completed. The player with the most points wins.

There is also an advanced variation when playing in the Lake District in that any locations visited that day are worth double points.

Full disclosure, though there is longitude and latitude on each cards, my position for these photos don't match that but does feature the location shown. 😂

⏰ 45-90 mins

🎲 Gameplay 🎲

On their turn players must perform a tile action and may also perform one of their special actions, this can be done in any order.

🛡️ Tile actions 🛡️

🛡️ Lay a tile: Choose a tile from the face up pool of five tiles or take a tile blind from the stack. Place it adjacent to another tile already in play, ensuring the edges align. Refresh the pool of tiles back up to five.

🛡️ Rotate a tile: Select a tile on the city's edge and rotate it. Tiles must not be fully surrounded or occupied by a worker of Guilds token.

⚔️ Special Actions ⚔️

⚔️ Place a worker: Players may chose to place one of their workers in the centre of any unoccupied tile.

⚔️ Move a worker: Move one of your places workers to a different unoccupied tile connected by a continuous unbroken road.

⚔️ Place a Guild Token: Each Guild has their own unique action of placing a guild token on any qualifying space on a tile. For example, road toll collectors can place a bridge to connect a road to another, whereas druids can place their Shrine token in the centre of a completed circle of stones.

Players can also earn gold by connecting exactly 3 tiles of the same road pattern.

Coins are used to gain additional turns or can be saved for end game scoring.

Summary

There is so much to say about this game and evidently not enough characters in this caption to convey them all and so a full review is likely required however this is a lovely thinky little game, the Guilds add a lot of replayability and I'm looking forward to playing each one and working out the best strategy.

The components are gorgeous, linen finish tiles and screen printed tokens add to the charm of this game.

I am very much looking forward to getting this game to the table more.

This game was kindly gifted by , and however all thoughts and opinions are my own.
