šŸšØ BREAKING: Danny Tommo has been REFUSED BAIL and remanded in custody.

Daniel Thomas appeared at Basingstoke Magistratesā€™ Court today and pleaded NOT GUILTY to two charges: criminal damage and allegedly failing to provide police with the PIN for his phone.

The court heard allegations that he slashed an inflatable boat in the English Channel with a knife while an emergency responder was on board.

He will remain in custody ahead of his next hearing at Portsmouth Crown Court on 29 September.

And this case is already raising serious questions.

Thomasā€™ supporters are asking why he has been denied bail while other people involved in the wider Channel and migration situation have been dealt with very differently.

Is this simply the normal legal process playing out?

Or is there a wider issue about how these cases are being handled?

Two-tier justice? You decide.

šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§ AROUND 400 PEOPLE OUTSIDE A POLICE STATION FOR DANNY TOMMO

Basingstoke tonight.

Reports now put the crowd outside the police station at around 400 people, following the arrest of Danny Tommo. Supporters are chanting ā€œFREE DTā€, with police officers standing guard as the demonstration continues.

Just stop and think about that number.

400 people.

Not a handful of activists. Not a couple of friends. Hundreds of people turning up after an arrest that has happened within the last 24 hours.

You can agree or disagree with Danny Tommo. You can argue about what happened in the Channel. But pretending there isn't a huge amount of anger behind tonight's scenes would be completely out of touch with reality.

People are fed up with watching the Channel crisis unfold, fed up with feeling ignored and increasingly willing to come out onto the streets and make themselves heard.

And now the arrest of Danny Tommo has become the latest flashpoint.

400 people outside a police station on a Thursday night is a message in itself.

The question is whether anyone in Westminster is actually listening.

Well said Rupert Lowe A father of two children has been jailed after throwing a plastic bottle at the police and swearing at officers during the illegal migrant protest in Portsmouth.

Sentenced to a two year prison sentence.

The judge said it would act 'as a deterrent'

Now, let me be abundantly clear.

I do not believe that any violence against the police is acceptable.

I also do not believe that a two year prison sentence is appropriate, particularly when we are allowing paedophiles and rapists to roam our streets because of a supposed lack of prison capacity.

The BBC reports the man 'said he had found the bottle on the ground and was going to throw it into a nearby bush, but was angry and so threw it up into the air.'

Reportedly, he told the officers to 'f*** off' and 'pointed aggressively' at them (ITV).

I can understand the anger, to be honest. This was happening as illegal migrants were being ferried into his town.

This sentence is unfair, unjust and morally wrong.

Let's be honest about what has happened here.

The establishment is making an example of this man to deter others from protesting.

A two year sentence is absolutely outrageous - there are far better ways for him to make right the wrong.

The third world invaders are greeted to luxury accommodation as heroes, yet this man will rot in prison.

It's not right.

The ones stoking division are this Labour government, allowing thousands of illegal migrants into our country and treating British people like second-class citizensā€¼ļø

I suspect Burnhamā€™s new ā€œdisinformation unitā€ will just lead to more censorship. Donā€™t you think?
