Back in Inverness today, I had the chance to experience the Inverness Castle Experience from a visitor's perspective rather than a staff one.

Having seen the hard work that has gone into the project behind the scenes, it was fantastic to explore the attraction and see the story of the Highlands and Inverness brought to life 🏰

It's great to see such an iconic landmark being used to showcase our history, culture and communities while attracting visitors to the city 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💛

Continuing our journey along the North West coast today, we explored Smoo Cave before visiting the Durness Craft Village and its fantastic local businesses. We also made a quick stop at Oldshoremore Beach, although the Highland weather eventually caught up with us! 🌧️

Places like Durness highlight the importance of supporting local communities, independent businesses and tourism across the Highlands. They help sustain local jobs, attract visitors and play a vital role in keeping our rural communities vibrant and thriving. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💛

The North West Coast never fails to remind you just how special our part of Scotland is 😊

Today is my birthday, and it was spent with my partner and family visiting Handa Island 😊🏝️

It was fantastic to see the island’s incredible seabirds, including Puffins, Guillemots and Skuas 🐦

Places like Handa remind us just how special the Highlands and Islands are, not only for their wildlife and natural beauty, but for the communities, conservation work and local tourism that help sustain them 💚

A lovely day spent appreciating one of Scotland’s truly remarkable places 😄🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💛

Spent the day back in my hometown of Ullapool today 😊

The day started with a breakfast roll and tea at Cult Cafe before finally making my first, and definitely overdue, visit to the award-winning Seafood Shack for lunch. The trout was excellent and certainly went down a treat 😁

It was fantastic to see both of these businesses, alongside many other independently run shops and stores, so busy and thriving, especially on a Monday.

Local businesses are at the heart of communities like Ullapool, supporting jobs, bringing people together and helping keep our towns vibrant 👏

Days like this make you appreciate your roots and the importance of supporting local all the more 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💛

John Swinney is Scotland’s First Minister once again.
In difficult times, I can think of no one better suited to lead Scotland forward. Experienced, reliable and focused on delivering real change and renewed hope for all Scots across our country 💛🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Congratulations to John Swinney on being elected First Minister of Scotland by the Scottish Parliament.

The SNP Scottish Government has secured a renewed mandate and will always be on your side.

Thank you to everyone who voted SNP.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been 10 days since polling day.

The past few months were intense, exhausting and incredibly rewarding all at once. From early mornings and late nights to countless conversations on doorsteps across the Highlands, I’m proud to have played a part in such a hardworking and dedicated team.

I’ve met so many brilliant people throughout this campaign and I’m genuinely grateful to everyone who gave up their time to leaflet, canvass, organise, support and vote.

While the result wasn’t the one we hoped for, my passion for our communities and for the Highlands has only grown stronger.

This campaign taught me a huge amount, and I’m looking forward to continuing to get involved locally, listening, learning and standing up for the people and places that make the Highlands so special 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💛

Scotland needs stability, action and leadership focused on the people who live here, not Westminster chaos 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💛
