It’s St George’s Day and Shakespeare’s birthday but it’s also the day, according to old country wisdom, to pick dandelions, for making dandelion wine. I know the red rose is Englands national flower but we give you a lovely bright dandelion on this day !

Fabulous Viking boat burning on beach at Sheringham, the culmination of a day where ‘Vikings’ celebrated and shared the story of Viking occupancy in East Anglia and their landing in Sheringham. A free event, really well attended and very much enjoyed. Thanks to the efforts of all involved and even the sun made an appearance!

What better way to celebrate the season than to attune with nature and make a little nest for your celebration of spring nature table. Keeping simple traditions such as making Easter Gardens and garlands really helps to focus on nature and the seasonal changes rather than all the commercialism of this time of the year. Whilst out gathering we saw 3 hare’s in the same field as lapwings - always a magickal moment, reminding me of the wonderful connection to the the Easter ‘Hare’ that supposedly lays eggs and may well be an origin of the Easter Bunny and Easter Eggs. I created a greetings card image of this folklore some years ago. It’s a wonderful example of things becoming lost in folklore and the retelling of stories.
However you mark this time of year we wish you happiness and peace xx

We recently visited 3 sites in North Norfolk associated with a magickal ritual that was reported on Friday 13th September 1963. We share our findings in the 2027 Country Wisdom & Folklore Datebook but thought you’d may like a teaser.

It’s the first day of Spring, the Vernal Equinox and known as Ostara by some of us. We always like to put up a seasonal door wreath - marking our threshold and giving a bit of interest to those that pass by.
It’s a time for action - tentatively sowing those first seeds but making sure to nurture against the unexpected icy blasts that can still push in.
Wishing you all a happy Springtime and that the sun is shining on you today xx

And for those of us who have lost our mum’s a huge thankful remembrance to them. It’s a special day in the UK and Ireland (later in the year in other places)
And a huge thank you to my fabulous daughter - who knows me too well judging by my gift and the well placed label !
