Foxy Scope 🦊 Through the eyes of the fox.

One paw through a rotten log and the whole afternoon’s plans changed instantly.

Turned into a full two-fox demolition operation within about thirty seconds. Bark flying everywhere, both of them completely absorbed, tails going the whole time. That log did not survive the encounter.

Somewhere in the New Forest there is now significantly less log than there was this morning, and two extremely satisfied fox cubs.

One tripped. She stopped moving before he'd even finished falling.

The faster one was already miles ahead, completely unbothered. She didn't chase after him. Didn't rush the slower one either. Just waited, exactly where she was, until everyone was back together — and then set the pace to match whoever needed it slowest.

That's the whole job, really. Never leaving anyone behind, and never making them feel rushed for needing a little more time.

He didn't hesitate for a single second. Just walked straight up and sat down like we'd already met.

No food offered. No coaxing. He simply crossed the trail, leaned into my hand like it was the most normal thing in the world, and stayed there a good while before wandering off on his own terms.

I don't know what he's learned about people in his short life so far. I hope it stays this way for him.

She called him twice. He was extremely busy attacking a dandelion at the time.

Full selective hearing. Back turned, completely committed to the seed fluff, not a single glance her way despite two very clear attempts to get his attention. In the end she just walked over and physically steered him off herself, which he accepted with exactly one last longing look back at the dandelions.

Every parent of every species, everywhere, at some point.

A team fixing an electrical fault opened the bonnet and found something they weren't expecting at all.

A car brought into a Bromley garage for a routine electrical repair turned out to have fox cubs tucked inside the engine bay — warm, sheltered, exactly the kind of quiet undisturbed space a mother fox might choose without anyone realising.

The garage team stopped what they were doing and called in a wildlife charity rather than just carrying on with the job. That decision is the entire reason this story has a happy ending.

The cubs were carefully removed, checked over, and — following the same principle that works again and again in stories like this — left somewhere safe nearby so their mother could find them herself.

She did.

It's such a strange, ordinary collision of two completely different worlds. A repair garage, full of tools and engine parts and invoices, and underneath one bonnet, a mother fox had quietly built a nursery nobody knew was there until the moment it mattered most.

Whatever smell was coming through that letterbox, it was clearly worth the risk. Right up until it wasn't.

Got himself thoroughly stuck for a solid ten seconds, tried a few different angles with visible increasing panic, and eventually popped free like a cork. Immediately retreated to a safe distance and just sat there, staring at the letterbox like it had personally betrayed him.

Whatever was on the other side of that door remains a mystery. He seems to have decided it's not worth finding out again.

7:40am. Quiet residential street. One fox cub decided everyone needed to know he existed.

Full volume. Full drama. Genuinely no reason for it that I could identify. His mate looked like he wanted to physically distance himself from the entire situation, which, honestly, valid.

Set off a car alarm somehow. Did it again anyway. Then just launched himself off the wall directly on top of his poor embarrassed sibling like the whole performance had been building to that.

Some foxes have main character energy. This one has main character energy nobody asked for.

She doesn't have to come back. Nothing's forcing her. She just does. Every single day.

Meatball first showed up in Josh's Hackney garden covered in mange, barely recognisable as healthy, desperate enough to trust a stranger for help she had no reason to believe she'd get. Months of medicine hidden in food, patient daily visits, and slowly, she recovered completely.

That could have been the end of it. Recovered fox, back to the wild, story over.

It wasn't the end. She's still coming back. Not because she needs to anymore — she's perfectly capable of surviving without him now. She simply chooses to.

Nobody really knows what goes on inside an animal's memory. We can't ask her if she remembers what it felt like to be that sick, or what it meant that someone chose to help when they didn't have to. But she keeps showing up at that same door, at roughly the same time, completely unafraid, like something in her decided a long time ago that this was somewhere safe.

Maybe that's not memory in the way we understand it. But it's something. And it's been going on long after any practical reason for it ran out.

📌 Real Story Credit: Meatball the fox, rescued from mange by London resident Josh, continues to visit his garden daily long after her full recovery.

Just a little sibling disagreement… 😂🦊🦊

These two foxes clearly couldn't decide who was in charge! One moment they're calmly sitting together, and the next it's paws up and mouths open. 😅

It looks dramatic, but they seem more interested in having a bit of a play-fight than anything serious. ❤️

The expression on the one lying down says it all… 😂

Would you call this playing or arguing? 👇

Ten solid minutes of spinning in circles trying to catch his own tail. Finally got it. Immediately fell over.

Genuinely didn’t think he’d manage it. The pure disbelief on his face the second he actually caught it, followed almost instantly by losing all his momentum and toppling sideways, is possibly my favourite thing I’ve filmed all summer.

Worth every dizzy circle, clearly.
