šŸ’¬ "I can't have my family and my future if I don’t have my health."

Six months ago, I made a decision that changed my life. At nearly 27 stone, I looked in the mirror and realized it was time to prioritize [health], not just for me, but for my family—and the future I want to build with them.

Fast forward six months, and I’m 50 pounds lighter. My BMI has dropped, my energy is higher, and my mindset has transformed. Here’s how I did it:

I started using Monjuro (a GLP-1 receptor antagonist, similar to Ozempic), an injectable medication that curbs appetite and helps with blood sugar regulation. But it’s not just the jab that’s made a difference—it’s the habits and mental shifts I’ve built along the way.

šŸ—£ļø "It’s not just about the scale. The non-scale victories keep me going."
From wearing smaller clothes to fitting into a normal-sized bath, these milestones remind me that progress is more than a number. I sleep better, my cravings for junk food have diminished, and I feel [in control] of my choices for the first time in years.

I’m not calorie counting or hitting the gym (yet!), but I’m already eating healthier and feeling stronger mentally. Every step forward gives me the confidence to keep improving.

šŸ’” Here are some lessons I’ve learned:
→ [Your "why" matters]: Define what drives you—family, health, future—and let it guide your journey.
→ [Small steps lead to big wins]: Whether it’s losing a few pounds or fitting into a smaller shirt, celebrate every milestone.
→ [Habits > willpower]: Tools like Monjuro can help, but lasting change comes from building better habits over time.
→ [It’s never too late]: Wherever you’re starting from, progress is possible when you commit to yourself.

These past six months have been life-changing, and I’m just getting started. If my journey resonates with you, I’d love to hear your story or thoughts below. Let’s support each other as we work toward healthier, happier lives.

šŸ’¬ "There I was at 3AM, pacing my living room with trapped wind, sleep-deprived, and feeling like a wrinkled prune. But you know what? I stepped on the scales this morning, and it was worth it—down another 2-3 pounds. This is week 23, and I’m over 3.5 stone lighter."

Weight loss isn’t all smooth sailing. Sometimes it’s sleepless nights, unexpected side effects, or figuring out what ā€œworksā€ for your body. For me, it's been a mix of dedication, small wins, and learning to navigate obstacles like acid indigestion, bloating, and even the occasional sleepless night caused by what I eat.

šŸ—£ļø [Here’s the truth about trapped wind]: It hurts—like, really hurts. It builds up, leaves you bloated, and sometimes feels unbearable. At its worst, I was pacing 7,000 steps in my living room just to relieve the discomfort. But even in moments like these, I remind myself why I started. My short-term goal is 22 stone, and I’m chipping away at it every week.

The journey isn’t just about numbers on the scale. It’s about showing up for yourself, even when you feel like absolute crap. It’s about celebrating the wins—like reshaping my face and gut, or hearing friends tell me they’ve noticed the changes. And it’s about being part of a community that lifts you up when you need it most.

Here’s what I’ve learned along the way:

→ Watch what you eat after weight-loss jabs—heavy meals + fizzy drinks can slow digestion and lead to discomfort.
→ Movement helps. Even pacing my living room made a difference on rough nights.
→ Progress is progress, no matter how small. Celebrate every pound lost.
→ Lean on your community—whether it’s friends, family, or like-minded people on the same journey.

Yes, there are challenges. But there’s also immense gratitude in knowing I’m taking care of my health, my family, and my future.

What about you? What’s been your biggest challenge—or win—on the road to better health? Let’s share and support each other. šŸ’Ŗ

šŸ’¬ ā€œI’ve lost 44 pounds in 5 months, but it didn’t happen the way you’d think.ā€

When I started my journey on GLP-1 medication, I quickly realized that weight loss isn’t a straight line. It’s a rollercoaster of highs (big drops on the scale) and lows (plateaus and setbacks). But here’s what’s worked for me—and maybe it can help you too.

The key? [Setting realistic, personal goals] that go beyond the number on the scale. I’ve done every diet under the sun—Weight Watchers, keto, fasting—you name it, I’ve tried it. The problem? I used to expect massive weight loss every week, which just isn’t sustainable.

Now, my approach is different:
→ I aim for 2-3 pounds a week, knowing that plateaus are part of the process.
→ I celebrate non-scale victories, like dropping from a 4XL to a 3XL shirt or fitting into jeans I haven’t worn in years.
→ I set ā€œlife milestoneā€ goals—like reaching the same weight I was at my best mate’s wedding or when I first moved to Huddersfield.
→ I remind myself that long-term progress beats short-term perfection every time.

And here’s the truth: your body isn’t a machine. Water retention, muscle gain, and even your salt intake can impact the scale. But focusing on how your clothes fit or how you feel? That’s where the real wins happen.

For me, the next goal is 22 stone. After that, it’s 20 stone. And maybe one day, 18 stone—just in time to bungee jump (terrifying, but hey, why not?).

What’s your next goal—big or small? Let’s celebrate progress together. šŸš€

Hello! My name is Alan and I am a stats-aholic!

My initial love affair with stats, social media and web design started when I was 15 years old (all those many many moons ago), when I founded and built a wrestling fan website. This community grew to over 16,000 rabid ā€˜fans of wresting’, sparking my love for all things stats, social media and web development.

Spin forward a few years later and in 2007 I finally helped to found a web development company. In the first few years I was the ā€˜sales guy’ and ā€˜social media’ expert, but overtime as I fell in love with the industry I started to learn more and more... This first love affair ended in an amicable split when I left the business to go freelance/self employed - and never looked back!

Then my soul mate found me...
