Beware the Haggis 😱

Wildlife cameras from the Highlands have captured rare new footage of the annual Haggis Migration as the first snow and freezing temperatures send thousands of the wee furry beasts rolling out of the hills in search of warmth (and pies).

Early reports include:

• small groups seen crossing the A9 in single file
• one haggis attempting to enter a Tesco Express
• bins mysteriously overturned in Inverness
• a haggis spotted sitting on a radiator inside a community centre

Scientists warn the migration could last several days. Locals are advised to remain calm and under no circumstances offer them a Scotch pie as they don’t leave once fed.

Amazing views on top of Cairngorm mountains. ❄️🏔 We went up on the mountain railway 🚞

The Cairngorm Mountain Railway is Scotland's only mountain railway and the highest in the UK.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Only One in Scotland: It is the only funicular railway in Scotland, and it is the highest railway in the United Kingdom, ascending to over 1,000 meters above sea level.

🚞​Unique Engineering: The railway uses a counterbalanced funicular system with two carriages linked by a cable. As one carriage descends, it helps pull the other one up the mountain.

⚡️​Energy Generation: When more people are descending than ascending, the system can actually generate electricity and feed it back into the National Grid.

☕️🥃🍴​The Ptarmigan Top Station: At the top, you'll find the Ptarmigan Top Station, which houses the UK's highest restaurant and bar. It also features a shop, an exhibition space, and an extensive viewing terrace offering panoramic views of Loch Morlich and the surrounding Highlands.

🌱​Conservation: To protect the fragile alpine environment of the Cairngorm plateau, visitors who ride the funicular in the non-ski season are typically not allowed to exit the top station building and walk onto the mountain. This conservation measure helps safeguard the fragile habitats.

⛰️​Speed Varies by Season: The journey takes about 5 minutes each way during the winter snowsports season to quickly get skiers and snowboarders to the slopes. Outside of winter, the speed is slowed down to about 8 minutes to allow visitors more time to enjoy the scenic views.

Photos from our trip to Chanonry Point a few days ago.🌊 One of my favourite locations near Inverness to go and just relax 😌. We didn't spot Dolphins this time (we have a few times before) but we did spot a seal🦭 bobbing his head up to say hello😁

Absolutely loved my two visits to the Huntly Falconry Centre over the last few months! It truly is a great place and a must-see if you're ever in Aberdeenshire. 🦉🦅

​The highlight is, without a doubt, the flying display. Watching those majestic birds of prey swoop and soar is incredible, and the chance to get hands-on and actually hold the birds yourself is an unforgettable experience—definitely worth planning your visit around!

​But it's not just the magnificent hawks, falcons, and owls that make this centre special. The location offers genuinely great views, and you also get to see some of their other residents, including various species of deer.

​Here are a couple of cool facts about the centre:

▪️​Pioneers of Falconry: Established in 1991, it's proudly one of the first falconry centres of its kind in Scotland!

▪️​Screen Stars: Their impressive birds are sometimes used for TV and film work, so you might be watching a future star!

​If you're looking for an educational, engaging, and beautiful day out in the North East of Scotland, I can't recommend Huntly Falconry Centre enough. Go see a display—you won't regret it!

A fantastic little outing to Nairn today! 🌊☀️
​It was a lovely sunny October day, and taking in that fresh, crisp sea air was exactly what I needed. Moments like these make such a difference.
​Grateful for some time by the water, soaking up the light and filling my lungs with that glorious coastal breeze.🌊 Hope everyone else is having a restful weekend!🫶

Throwback to June in Cullen, Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

​It's a place I've visited many times, and it remains an absolute favourite! The gorgeous crescent beach🌊, the colourful houses of the Seatown, and the lovely little town itself are just perfect. And, of course, the ice cream shop is always a must-try! 🍦

​Beyond the beauty, Cullen is full of fascinating history:

▪️​Cullen Skink: This Royal Burgh is the birthplace of the world-famous traditional Scottish soup, Cullen Skink—a rich, creamy blend of smoked haddock, potatoes, and onions.

▪️​Royal History: The Auld Kirk (church) is the burial site for the entrails of Queen Elizabeth de Burgh, the second wife of King Robert the Bruce, who died here in 1327!

​If you've never been to the Moray Firth coast, put Cullen on your list. It's truly a gem!
