The Young Films Foundation ran a fabulous joint event on Friday the 26th with the NFTS Sean Connery Talent Lab in Edinburgh. The participants on both programmes were treated to a screening of "The Olive Tree' (2016) followed by a Q&A with the writer Paul Laverty. Thanks go to the Everyman Cinema for hosting us and especially to Paul for giving up so much of his valuable time.

WHAT IS IT THAT WILL LAST? LAND AND TIDAL ART OF JULIE BROOK
By Julie Brook, Simon Groom, Alexandra Harris, Raku Jikinyū and Robert Macfarlane

Young Films are delighted to announce the launch of a new book that explores the work of Julie Brook.

This is the first substantial publication to explore the work of Julie Brook and is published to coincide with a major solo show at Abbot Hall to mark its re-opening after redevelopment.

The book offers a rich and expansive visual record of Julie Brook’s artistic practice, and proposes a unique collaboration with distinct voices from the nature writing and craftsmanship traditions. Including film stills, photography and drawing, which are all integral languages for conceptualising and communicating the work, plus insightful extracts from Brook’s notebooks, this beautiful publication succeeds in providing the reader with a unique understanding of the artist’s ‘monuments to the moment’.
