Kendal Stands for Human Rights Raising awareness and sharing ways the Kendal Community can support Human Rights for All We want Kendal to lead the turning of the tide.

This page has risen from a group of local Cumbrians who wish to raise awareness of the ongoing Human Rights abuses in Palestine and the Middle East. We do this because Human Rights are only Human Rights if they apply to ALL humans. Undermining this principle opens the door to fascism and a repeat of past atrocities. We recognise that Zi0nist propaganda has a lot of £££££ to pay for our attention t

hrough algorithms and press releases direct to mainstream UK media. Most Brits are not aware of the global outcry at how the UK is supporting the ethnic cleansing of Palestine through supplying arms, intelligence and training whilst the UK based arms industry profits in return. Most Brits are not aware of the long history of Z1onism, it's aims and objectives, and how that underpins the Palestinian struggle. We want Kendal to actively seek out truth, look at the history and hear what other leading figures in the world are saying. We want Kendal to be the place which says 'Human Rights are only Human Rights if they apply to ALL Humans'. We can look at the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was created after the Second World War as a mechanism to prevent the return of fascism.

“The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights. Drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, the Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 (General Assembly resolution 217 A) as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations.”

Through this convention we can uphold Kendal as a place which actively advocates for peace, takes steps to protect Human Rights and understands that ‘Never Again’ means ‘Never Again’.

The Global Sumud Flotilla is sailing! 22 boats have been intercepted in Greek waters (Piracy) and 51 still remain. Some boats took part in direct action to try to prevent raw materials arriving by boat to Izreal.

2 activists have been taken prisoner by Izrael - a Palestinian man and a Brazilian.
The interception happened 500 nautical miles away from G@za and at least 10 days travel time in Greek waters. Has the Greek government let this happen?

The IOF have now intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla in Greek waters, supported by the government it seems.

2 participants have now been abducted.
One Palestinian and one Brazilian - who is a key social organiser with a huge social media following.

All participants have been subjected to Israeli hospitality/hostility.

Please keep track of this, the biggest attempt yet to break the siege.

This violence to civilians is the definition of terrorism....

The UK’s Foreign Office has closed a unit that tracked potential breaches of international law by Israel in Gaza. The International Humanitarian Law Cell was closed due to budget cuts, according to reports in the Guardian

The EU is the largest investor in Israel worldwide, nearly twice as big as the United States (US). According to the most recent IMF data on foreign investment, EU member states held €72.1 billion in foreign investment in Israel in 2023, compared to €39.2 billion for the US.

The International Court of Justice declared that every nation has a duty to not only suspend all forms of support for the state of Israel that enables it to maintain the unlawful occupation, but to also prohibit any and all of their citizens and entities from "rendering aid or assistance" toward maintaining Israel's presence in the occupied territories.

Israel itself has invested €65.9 billion in the EU, seven times as much as in the US (€8.8 billion). That makes the EU the main destination for Israeli investment.

Despite Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and its unlawful occupation across the Occupied Palestinian Territory, the EU increased exports to Israel by €1 billion, standing at €25.5 billion in 2023 and €26.7 billion in 2024.

The EU is Israel’s largest trading partner, and its total trade with Israel in 2024, including imports and exports, amounted to €42.6 billion. This is significantly more than the US, whose trade with Israel totalled €31.6 billion in the same year.

Of all EU member states, the Netherlands is by far the largest investor in Israel and is responsible for two-thirds of EU investment in Israel. In fact, no other country worldwide has more investments in Israel. With €50 billion in investment held by Dutch companies in 2023, the Netherlands even tops the US. Conversely, the Netherlands is also the largest destination for Israeli investment, attracting six times as much investment as the US.
