The Galeón Andalucía is coming to Dover!

The spectacular Galeón Andalucía will be in our Marina from the 6th -10th of August for public viewing!

The striking 500-ton, six-deck, tall ship is a realistic example of a vessel used by the Spanish Crown for maritime expeditions through the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

Ship visits will open daily from 10.00 until 20.00, with pre-booking required and will be in the Outer Marina next to the Dover RNLI lifeboat station.

Mindless doomscrolling, the compulsive habit of endlessly consuming negative online content, is quietly draining our most valuable resources: time, energy, and attention. The average adult spends 96 minutes a day locked in this digital spiral, new research shows, adding up to two full days every month, or nearly 24 days a year — the equivalent of your annual leave allowance lost entirely to scrolling.

The picture is even more stark among Gen Z, whose daily doomscrolling averages 143 minutes. But, it is not just the sheer volume of time we are losing, it is when and where it is happening. Almost half (49%) of us admit to scrolling when with friends and family while about one in eight do so at weddings (12%) or school events (13%) — moments that should be cherished, not distracted by screens.

Our Story

Set up to support community projects in the local area, the Dover District Lotto operates on the principle of raising money within the community for the community. We empower local good causes to raise money in a fun and effective way. A ticket for the Dover District Lotto costs £1 per week and 60p will go directly to good causes!

DCR aims to provide an opportunity for anyone interested in radio and the community as a whole, to become involved with the radio station to help enhance and inform Dover as a community. Many of our current presenters were introduced into broadcasting by DCR using our training studio, specialist knowledge and experience. Individuals from within the District interested in getting into broadcasting are welcome and encouraged to explore opportunities and ideas.

DCR needs and welcomes your financial support to assist with the acquiring of a temporary or permanent FM licience, the technical running of the station, outside events and other essential activities that go towards running and developing a successful radio station.
