Its Time for the 10th Edition of The Whats 🥐 On Guide from Friday Drive. As Read out live on air every Friday at 5:20pm.
This weekend marks the start of the week-long Sheerness Seaside Festival which was originally created by the Sheerness Town Team.
These days, many other organisations help put all the events together.
The week will include dates with donkeys, sessions with scorpions, free Punch and Judy shows, beach cleans and a chance to parley with pirates.
The week culminates with the Sheerness carnival on Saturday, August 16, with funfair and free fireworks in the evening.
Saturday 9th August 2025
11am – Sheppey St John Ambulance Band play live in Sheerness Broadway. Free
12.45am – Fiato – The Little Big Band play live in Sheerness Broadway. Music to 3pm.
8pm – Sunset Seaside Stroll along the coast from Minster to Queenborough. Meet on the promenade near the Little Oyster on The Leas from 7pm. You can register on the night for £10. Money goes to Cancer Research UK. Under-10s stroll for free. Call Lee Ewart on 07932 211083 for more information.
Sunday 10th August 2025
10am – 3.30pm – Sheppey Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets open day at their headquarters at Barton’s Point Coastal Park, Sheerness. Fun-filled family day with boat rides, bouncy castle, camouflage face-painting, BBQ, Army cargo truck, scavenger hunt, tours of the base and a rare opportunity to sail the seas and try to dock a cargo boat at Sheerness using the cadets’ state-of-the-art ship simulator. Free
11am – 4pm – Pirates in the Park. The Sheppey Pirates will be making a guest appearance at this event run by the Sheppey Miniature Engineering Society at the model train track at Barton’s Point Coastal Park. Also features Sheppey FM Roadshow, Steampunk, stalls, mermaid pool, ice cream, face-painting and train rides (normal fares). Free entry and parking.
