So yesterday was another tick on the list.

I ran, walked and on some obstacles crawled the Forest Warrior 10k mud run. The whole event was amazingly organised. The route was clearly marked with plenty of marshalls throughout.

I was full of nerves and excited when lining up and the support from other runners, staff and spectators really lifted you up.

There were a few highlights from the run:

Wading through swamps that were chest deep and almost losing a trainer a few times.

Pete actually lost a trainer only a few km in and went 'ah how bad can it be.' Another competitor going oh you will need it. Qué the three of us digging through the mud to retrieve said trainer.

Kyle having a moment where we were wading through a stream. He jokingly said have you ever seen the vicar of Dibley where she jumps in the puddle. Laughs were shared no more than ten seconds later as Kyle jumped the very next log and disappeared! So wish I had a go pro.

The atmosphere was fantastic and so friendly from everyone. Once finished and caught our breath we met up as myself and Kyle told Pete go ahead as he is a fair bit fitter than us. We both still finished in a respectable time for our standard of fitness I felt.

I then treated them both to an amazing burger from The Dogs. It was the least I could do after what they went through. They were also conveniently set up by the start and finish line. Yes we could smell it while lining up.

We all sat around having a laugh at what we had just done while inhaling our got food. We all said there and then we are coming back! So we will be running again in 2025 if anyone is mad enough to join us.

The food and live entertainment were fantastic. Had a burger that was huge! So good I got their details for future events I will be helping to organise.

To everyone these are just a few photos, but to myself it has a deeper meaning.

The last time the three of us were together was 13 years ago. We were all slimmer, less hairy and all still serving in the Army together.

Everyone watching us sitting and catching up commented that it appeared as though we had only been together yesterday. We laughed, smiled and even shed tears together. I am honoured and privileged to call these two friends and brothers.

It was a fantastic day hanging out with awesome friends.

The day was spent building up to this eating various mega sours and chilli sweets. Some handled it way better than others. However they still did it.
