BRASSED OFF // 08.10.25

Mark Herman is returning this October for UNTHINKABLE - tickets are now LIVE through the Middleton Hall website for a screening of Herman’s 1996 musical drama BRASSED OFF.

The film, which follows the Grimley Colliery Brass band as they enter a national competition to save their Yorkshire town’s coal town, will be followed by a Q+A by the director himself.

We're onto the last stretch of submission dates, with the FINAL deadline landing on the 25th of this month. The submission price has gone up, but if for any reason you can't make the payment or the deadline then just message us and we'll come to an agreement!

‘WARM THE OUTSIDE POOL UP’

Hull spoke; we listened. ‘Warm the outside pool up’ is the written response to our request for you to anonymously submit how you felt about life in Hull in that moment.

Now we pass this response back to you guys - any and all artists from whatever discipline, as long as you’re thinking outside the box, are welcome to submit a piece of work in response to this prompt. Selected works will be showcased at HARI in collaboration with the team there!

HARI will be open on Friday 25th July for conversations around how the phrase can be interpreted, and technical possibilities for dramatic/effective hanging of works around the space.

ALEX KALOGERAKIS // EXHIBITION BRAVO

Alex Kalogerakis (b.2000) is a visual artist from Hull exploring oil painting, drawing, and film photography under the project ‘infilthitshallbefound’ distilling the poetry of Anlaby Road and Lord Line. Here are some of the works featured in last year’s UNTHINKABLE exhibition.

Alex also has a solo exhibition at Boulevard’s Western Library entitled ‘Poverties ov the Imagination’ later this year.
