🙌 We are incredibly proud to recognise our first employee with 25 years of service at Collins.

Alan Walvin has officially reached 25 years of continued service with the company – the first time this milestone has ever been awarded in our history, and there could not be a more deserving employee.

Alan has been part of the Collins journey from before the beginning. A school friend of our founder David Collins, he knew the business when it was quite literally one man and his digger.

Through every stage of his career, from his early days as a machine operator to becoming a Site Manager, Alan has remained a constant – his loyalty, work ethic and commitment have never wavered.

What makes this milestone even more special is that Alan’s story continues through his family. His daughter, Freya, and son, Archie, also work within our earthworks and transport teams.

Our directors, Jack Cave and Wayne Naylor, recently invited Alan to what he thought was a catch-up and Christmas lunch in the Cafe. He was presented with a badly printed certificate and a chocolate selection box - or so he thought. That was just the decoy. The real moment came when Alan was surprised with a Rolex watch, presented in recognition of 25 years of dedication, graft and loyalty to Collins.

Alan, thank you for everything you have given to the business over the last 25 years. You are a huge part of our story. 👏

🎄 Wrapping up for Christmas 🎁

Season’s Greetings from Collins! As we head towards taking a paws for the festive season, we’d like to thank our clients, partners and teams for another great year.

Please note that our offices will be closing for Christmas on Christmas Eve and reopening on the 2nd of January 2026.

🎁 Spreading smiles, festive cheer, and a little extra magic this Christmas 🎁

This week our team came together to spread a little festive joy beyond the workplace.

Thanks to the money raised from Christmas Jumper Day at Collins, our team purchased £500 worth of toys and surprised children in the local cancer ward at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham. It was a simple but meaningful way to give back this Christmas, and a great reminder of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Huge thanks to everyone involved for getting into the Christmas spirit and for their generosity – we’re incredibly proud of what our team continues to do, both on and off site.

This Christmas, we want to share something a little more personal.

To our customers, partners, friends and employees, thank you. Your support means a huge amount to all of us at the Collins group of companies, and we never take it for granted.

But this year, Christmas looks and feels different.

Following the loss of our founder, David Collins, we wanted to honour him in a way that reflects what he valued the most - humanity, care, and looking after people properly.

💷 In David’s memory, in lieu of customer gifts this Christmas, the Collins group of companies will be 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 £𝟭𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 to the ward at 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 that cared for David and his family with such compassion.

🫶 We also want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported us at David’s funeral. Together, we raised 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 £𝟭𝟵,𝟬𝟬𝟬 for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity - a cause close to David’s heart, and one that continues to do vital work for our industry.

🩵 If there’s one thing David taught us, it’s that community matters, and that how you treat people will always matter more than what you do.

Powering New Heights: Collins Demolition Deploys New Volvo EC500HR 🏗️

Our new Volvo EC500 high reach excavator is hard at work in Bracknell, with its impressive 32m reach, it’s safely deconstructing a four-storey building - the former Dell Headquarters, vacant since July 2022.

This project will clear the way for the developer’s new commercial buildings, and the EC500HR is proving the perfect fit: stable, precise, and purpose-built for demanding high-reach work.

With carefully sequenced demolition, segregation of materials on site to support recycling and reduce environmental impact, clear exclusion zones, and active dust suppression, our team is focused on one priority: safe, controlled progress, every shift.

🎥 Check out our New Liebherr PR 736 G8 in Action on one of our Major Rail Projects.

From precision grading with Trimble Earthworks to the smooth hydrostatic drive and impressive pushing power, the PR 736 is already proving itself as a strong addition to the Collins fleet.

Early feedback from operators and the team has been exceptional - with the machine delivering high accuracy, fast cycle times and outstanding hashtag in real-world conditions.

➡️ From Trials to Delivery: Our First Liebherr PR 736 G8 Dozer

Our First Liebherr PR 736 G8 Dozer didn’t take long to cut the grade and earn its permanent place in the Collins fleet after an impressive trial and excellent operator feedback.

After putting the machine through its paces on one of our major rail projects, our operator Brad Turner gave a brilliant report - calling out its comfort, control, and productivity. Most importantly, the trial showed a notable reduction in fuel consumption with zero compromise in performance, supporting our continued commitment as a carbon-neutral business.

Following the successful trial, we placed the order with Liebherr, who supplied the machine in our custom Collins blue and white colour scheme to mark our 25th anniversary this year.

A big thank you to Andrew Foster and the Liebherr Construction team for their collaboration throughout the process.

➡️ Coordinate and schedule repairs, servicing, and maintenance for all fleet vehicles.

➡️ Liaise with garages, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure timely and cost-effective vehicle upkeep.
➡️ Monitor compliance with transport regulations and company policies.
➡️ Support the wider transport team with administrative tasks and reporting.

➡️ Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.

➡️ Previous experience in fleet or transport administration is desirable but not essential.
