As the spring nights started to roll in, we recently put down our tools and welcomed the Pleasley Young Farmers to our headquarters for a site tour.

Led by Jack Cave, the group was given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at our Collins Earthworks HQ, right in the heart of our latest development.

We shared the rich history of the Collins group of companies - from our modest beginnings to becoming a leader in the construction industry - and introduced the young farmers to the wide array of career paths available to them.

It was a brilliant opportunity to highlight the transferable skills between farming and construction, and to show how passion, dedication, and hard work can build rewarding futures.

Thanks to everyone involved. We hope these young farmers left inspired and full of ideas about where their careers might lead! 🌟

🐣 We’ve now raised over £600 in Easter eggs and donations for the amazing Lauren’s Legacy Charity.

🎁 The collection box has been overflowing with chocolatey joy, and the League Of Zeal MCC, Derbyshire bikers arrived early to collect the donations.

On 21st June 2025, a brilliant team of Collins women will be swapping work wear for sportswear as they tackle the 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝘂𝗱𝗱𝘆 𝟱𝗞 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵𝗮𝗺 – a fun-filled, mud-splattered obstacle course in support of life-saving cancer research.

From climbing and crawling to slipping and sliding, they’ll be embracing the mud with determination and team spirit – 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿.

That’s right — the Easter Bunny has made an early stop at Collins, all thanks to League Of Zeal MCC, Derbyshire, who kindly dropped off a donation box at our Ripley reception for the amazing Lauren’s Legacy Charity, which is dedicated to changing the lives of teenagers with cancer.

We’re collecting 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗴𝗴𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟭𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹, which will be delivered to children in nearby hospitals in Nottingham, Chesterfield and Derby - bringing joy, chocolatey treats, and a whole lot of love this Easter. 🐣

👏 Thanks to the generosity of our team, we’ve already raised 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 £𝟱𝟬𝟬 in eggs and donations… and it’s still growing!

🚩𝗚𝗘𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗦 𝗨𝗣 👍

At the end of the day, going home safely is the top priority - not just for you, but for your family and friends too. Safety on-site isn’t just about wearing PPE - it’s about understanding the risks around plant machinery.

That’s why, at the request of our partners John Sisk & Son Ltd, we recently delivered four vital 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 sessions at one of their North Yorkshire sites - to help workers see sites through the eyes of an operator. 👀

For some, it was the first time they had ever sat inside plant machinery, experiencing firsthand the limited visibility from the cabin and the challenges posed by mirrors placed in unfamiliar positions.

Just because you can see the operator, doesn’t mean they can see you! Make sure you get the “𝘁𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗯𝘀 𝘂𝗽”👍 before approaching.

In the spirit of "𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸", Katie and Isabel attended an 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 event at Coventry City Council Job Shop. The day was filled with inspiring stories from successful women in the industry, alongside leading companies such as Tarmac, BAM Construction, Beatty VINCI, and of course, Collins Earthworks.

They had the opportunity to share their personal journeys into construction, career progression, and experiences as women in the field - encouraging and inspiring more women to explore careers in the industry. The event sparked fantastic conversations, and the response was overwhelmingly positive!

During their presentation, they showcased Collins Earthworks’ expertise in Earthworks, Demolition, Transport, and Stabilisation, while also highlighting the opportunities we offer, including apprenticeships (which both Isabel and Katie have experienced first-hand), training, and work experience.

We’re proud to have been part of such an impactful event and to continue championing women in construction! 👏

👏 We’re thrilled to share that construction has officially started on our brand-new headquarters in Ripley. This marks an exciting milestone for Collins as we continue to grow and invest in our future.

Our new HQ will provide a modern, collaborative space designed to support our teams and enhance the way we work.
