ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT TODAYS EVENT:
Hello nerds
I hope everyone is looking forward to this afternoon’s party at Project House. The music will all be inside and we’ve put a marquee up so you can eat and drink while staying dry.
Quite a few people in the comments over the last week or so guessed correctly that Jeremy Healy was going to be one of the guest DJs coming up to play. I was really excited about this as he was a hero of mine when I was a kid. HOWEVER.. about an hour ago he called to say he’s got COVID and is too ill to make the trip up to Leeds.
To give you some behind-the-scenes context.. at our 1st event Fergie missed his flight and we managed to get Alistair Whitehead to jump in his car. For our second event where Fergie was rebooked, he cancelled in the morning as he’d got an ear infection so the Wideboys flew up from Brighton. At our 3rd event our warmup DJ cancelled an hour before the gig. At our 4th event both Danny Rampling and Stanton Warriors got stuck on a train due to a fire and only just made it for the end of the night.
We were fairly confident that it absolutely couldn’t happen a 5th time but it has… and I could honestly cry 😢.
I know it’s not really about the DJs - that was always the point of these parties and the amazing and massive family of people that come down would understand, but I also want to be open and honest about everything as I know from the socials a lot of people were excited about seeing Jeremy. I hate the thought we might let anyone down.
THE GOOD NEWS:
Like a pair of legendary fu***ng RAVE ANGELS the Utah Saints are going to save the day and will be arriving to finish off the show. Tim and Jez Utahs played the BEST EVER set we’ve had at the first DMA, so it’s fitting they’re going to play out the last one. They are genuinely my heroes.
I say last as there’s no current plans for another event at Project House.. this was always just supposed to be a bit of fun not some massive project, so for my own mental health and on the recommendation of my doctor 😂 this evening’s Dance Music Archive will be the last one for the foreseeable future.. let’s have an amazing day to remember, and if you see me wondering round today looking crazy stressed, please give me a hug 🤗❤️
