Adel Hockey Club are kicking off their new season with the kind of enthusiasm that makes you almost consider dusting off your own trainers.

Two of my favourite Leeds haunts - Chilli‑Shop Leeds and Arcade Club - have teamed up to bring the Hot Ones challenge to Kirkstall. It’s fiery, chaotic, and exactly the sort of collaboration that feels perfectly, wonderfully Leeds.

Made in Dagenham is coming to Carriageworks Theatre - a proper feel‑good night out. Some dates are already sold out, so if you fancy it, get booking.

We’re also introducing Oglish Cakes, sharing Olga’s incredible story of rebuilding, baking and beginning again - with a lovely giveaway tucked inside the feature too.

Plus: a fascinating piece about a Headingley man whose life intersected with the Titanic, and a spotlight on Lighthouse Futures Trust and the brilliant work they’re doing across the city.

Bramley Baths is inviting deaf and hard-of-hearing families to a special British Sign Language Splash session on Sunday 27 September, as part of International Week of Deaf People.

The family swim, taking place from 11.30am to 12.30pm, will include BSL support both poolside and in the water. A BSL-trained swim teacher will be in the pool, supported by a BSL interpreter on dry side, helping families communicate, ask questions and enjoy the session together.

The event has been created as part of Bramley Baths’ commitment to making swimming more accessible and ensuring deaf and hard-of-hearing people feel welcome and included.

Bramley Baths has a long history of welcoming deaf swimmers, with records showing deaf people among some of its early swimmers.

The session is part of Bramley Baths’ programme, which celebrates the history of the Grade II listed Edwardian bath house while exploring how it can continue to serve the community today.

More than a pool is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
BSL Splash is open to families with deaf or hard-of-hearing children. Parents, carers and siblings are welcome to swim too.
