🍏 Fruit Works: Growing Trees, Growing Community

In a time of climate challenges and biodiversity loss, Fruit Works Leeds Co-operative is showing how simple action - planting fruit trees - can make a big difference.

Since 2020, they’ve:
Planted 450 fruit trees in schools, engaging over 1,700 children
Created 100 community orchards across Leeds (the most outside London!)
Hosted tree giveaways, pruning courses, and volunteer sessions
Run Harvest Share schemes and celebrations like Apple Day and Wassail

Fruit Works doesn’t just plant trees - they nurture resilient local food sources, build community spaces, and share skills to help everyone care for their trees.

Their vision? By 2050, everyone in Leeds & Bradford will have picked fruit straight from a tree - and know how to care for it. 🍎

💚 Get involved: volunteer, join a harvest, take a course, or plant a tree yourself. Every tree and every skill shared strengthens our city and our future.

Brewed in Leeds: Celebrating Our Local Breweries! 🍺

Leeds has always thrived on creativity - and nowhere is that more obvious than in its brewing scene. The Brewed in Leeds campaign, launched in 2025 by Horsforth Brewery, isn’t just about beer: it’s about community, collaboration, and giving drinkers a genuine alternative to the usual pub selections.

Highlights include:
The inaugural Brewed in Leeds Beer Festival - with cask and keg tastings and the crowning of the Champion Beer of Leeds
Nearly 20 independent breweries, from DMC to Piglove, Tartarus, and Northern Monk
A special collaboration beer brewed collectively to showcase the city’s creativity
Efforts to get pubs and bars across Leeds supporting local brewers
