PETA UK hopes to place a billboard in Devon reading “Love Birds? Don’t eat them. Chicken farms spread bird flu - Go Vegan!”, following the news that up to 50 birds, including Dawlish’s famous black swans, are to be culled at an aviary after a bird flu outbreak.

Chicken farms contribute to bird flu by creating ideal conditions for the rapid spread of disease and mutation of viruses due to high-density, stressful, and unhygienic environments.

Chris Packham has received huge online support after branding those involved in a Devon hunt “sociopathic savages” who are "ethically and morally bankrupt" and "normalising cruelty".

The British Hound Sports Association and Countryside Alliance responded by saying that trail hunting is lawful and that Packham had used “language that borders on extremism”.

With the publication of yesterday's Covid Inquiry report, a reminder that Matt Hancock allowed the Cheltenham Festival to go ahead 10 days before the first lockdown.

Before the Cheltenham Festival, Hancock had received £350,000 in donations from wealthy figures in horseracing.

250,000 people attended the festival and it has been labelled a 'super -spreader' event that accelerated the spread of coronavirus.
