*** ROLLER COASTER SPOTLIGHT - 10/08/2026 ***

Keeping with the ongoing Intamin theme today's spotlight takes us all the way to Poland for a ride on one of Europe's TALLEST roller coasters! 👀

Hyperion is EnergyLandia's Intamin Mega Coaster and this monstrous ride really does set the tone for your day ahead as it's the first ride you see when arriving at the park due to it's size.

This insane coaster first opened at the park back in 2018 and reaches heights of up to 252.6ft, drops a total of 269ft, reaches speeds of up to 88.2 mph and features a HUGE dive loop turn round section at the front of the park to boot!

Hyperion is truly a masterpiece is roller coaster engineering and it's raw, brute power mixed with it's eye watering speed and huge amounts of airtime make this one of the best coasters in Europe to date (in my opinion).

The ride is also named after one of Saturn's moons, reaches a whopping 4.8 G's and can seat up to 1,300 riders per hour (depending on operation on the day).

This is without a doubt of the rides that made the biggest impression on me when I first rode it back in 2023, but Zadra also left a pretty solid first impression too (that's a matter for another day though haha).

*** ROLLER COASTER SPOTLIGHT - 09/08/2026 ***

Today we head to Plopsaland Deutschland (formerly known as Holiday Park) in Germany for a look at the park's iconic Intamin Mega Coaster Expedition GeForce sponsored by bigFM.

This fantastic ride first opened at the park on 18th June 2001 was the third of it's kind to open worldwide with the first being the now SBNO (standing but not operating) Superman The Ride at Six Flags New England.

Expedition GeForce reaches heights of up to 173.9ft, speeds of up to 74.6 mph, reaches forces of up to 4.5 G's and spans a total length of 4,002.6ft from beginning to end.

Up until recently this gigantic Mega Coaster also made up one of only 3 coasters operating at the park too until the opening of 100% Wolf earlier this season.

Expedition GeForce is fast, forceful, packed with airtime and a real solid addition to the park. It's also (in my own personal opinion) the best coaster at the park too, and it didn't feel rough either which considering it's age was quite surprising!

Steeplechase at Pleasure Beach Resort - keep or bin? 🤔

This last of it's kind single racing roller coaster inspired by horse racing (a pretty common theme at BPB apparently) sits at the back of the park and covers a sizeable plot of land, but in recent years this iconic addition has become more and more uncomfortable (with the final brakes near the station damn near cutting you in half at the waist lol).

The park's Arrow Dynamics single rail coaster first opened back in 1977 & is now the final ride of it's kind operating at any park worldwide.

Although fun, it's harsh transitions mixed with it's even harsher braking have made it a very marmite coaster with many, but is it occupying a plot of land that could be better utilised by something far more modern?

In a recent talk at the park's creator event Andy Hygate - Pleasure Beach Resort's Operations Director made it very clear that although the park want to protect their heritage they also fully understand the need to modernise and 'keep moving forward with the times' stating "Blackpool Pleasure Beach is an American Style amusement park, not a museum".

With this in mind could Steeplechase be marked for removal at some point in the future in favour of redevelopment? It's very possible, but at the same time other areas of the park such as Grand Prix's footprint will more likely be first. This is backed up by the fact Andy Hygate also mentioned "Grand Prix's former footprint will remain a greenspace.... for now".

For today's RCS we're heading to France, more specifically Parc Astérix for a look at the park's 2023 Intamin Blitz Coaster Toutatis! 😁

This insane ride features some incredible forces, moments of weightlessness and a whole heap of power to boot.

Toutatis is compared by many as being the European sister to Busch Gardens Williamsburg's Pantheon and in all honesty, it's not hard to see why!

Parc Astérix's take on this popular ride model see's those brave enough to ride reaching speeds of up to 66.5 mph, heights of up to 167.3ft and traversing 3 epic inversions throughout it's 3,526.9ft of twisting steel track too.

Toutatis really is a masterpiece in roller coaster engineering and is (in my opinion) Europe's second best Intamin Multi-Launch coaster (with the first being Batman: Gotham City Escape at Parque Warner Madrid)!

Pleasure Beach Resort to host mass gathering for upcoming eclipse

As the UK prepares to witness one of the most significant solar eclipses in decades, one of Lancashire’s most popular attractions is marking the occasion with a celebration of its own.

Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach Resort has announced plans to host a large-scale viewing for the upcoming solar eclipse within its park, complete with extended opening hours and free glasses for guests.

On Wednesday August 12, the park is inviting guests to gather on the park’s overpass, located beside the ‘Wallace & Gromit’s Thrill-O-Matic’ ride, in an attempt to create what would be one the largest group gatherings to view the eclipse in the North West.

Pleasure Beach will be handing out 1,000 free solar eclipse glasses to those in attendance, in preparation for the Moon's movement across the Sun.

In addition, thanks to extended opening hours, the eclipse can be spectated from inside the park in its entirety. Each Wednesday during August, Pleasure Beach is open until a later time of 8pm, meaning guests won’t need to cut their visit short to catch the display.

Amanda Thompson OBE, CEO of Pleasure Beach Resort Said: “Eclipses of this kind are a rarity, so we want to give our guests a truly unique experience to remember the occasion by.

“Few places can offer this experience surrounded by so much excitement, so we’d love for all guests to join us on our overpass and celebrate the special occasion together.”

According to Royal Museums Greenwich, the partial solar eclipse will offer the most coverage seen from the UK in 27 years, with viewers in Blackpool expected to witness over 90% of the sun covered.

The eclipse will take place on Wednesday August 12, beginning at around 6pm. The sun’s coverage will peak at approximately 7pm, before ending at 8pm.

Guests can view the eclipse from inside the park, with tickets starting from £18. Those entering later in the day can also take advantage of a two-for-one offer - two tickets and unlimited ride access are available for £60 from 4pm on the day of the eclipse.

I'm saving this one for September though when the schools go back (that's most likely when I'll manage the most rides)

Now, either I'll ride it that many times that it starts to feel 'okay', or I'll step off the ride at the end of the day and collapse in a heap on the floor (that's probably the most likely scenario) - either way, you're going to find out VERY soon lol!

Oh, and MAJI? No idea, I've kind of given up all hope of it actually opening this year at this point as the park continue to stay silent on what's actually happening with the ride even though we're now INTO AUGUST, the peak of the 2026 Summer hols?! (come on Flamingo Land, give us an update for goodness sake).

Either way, when Flamingo Land Resort do finally announce an opening date for it, you guys will be the first to know!

For now though, I'm enjoying the Summer holidays with Theo and there will still be plenty of content, vlogs etc. - just not this, YET haha!
