Today marks the first Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, our eternal Guru at Sri Harmandir Sahib in 1604 by Guru Arjan Dev Ji, with Baba Buddha Ji as the first Granthi Sahib. Later, Guru Gobind Singh Ji bestowed Guruship upon Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of legendary Punjabi actor and comedian Jaswinder Bhalla Ji at the age of 65. He left us on 22nd August 2025 after a brief illness.

Jaswinder Bhalla Ji was more than just an actor – he was a cultural icon. From the unforgettable Advocate Dhillon in Carry On Jatta to the much-loved Chacha Chatar Singh in Chhankata, his characters brought joy and laughter to millions of hearts worldwide.

Beyond cinema, he was a respected academic and a humble soul, who dedicated his life to both education and entertainment. His passing is a huge loss to Punjabi cinema, comedy, and our entire community.

✨ His laughter will continue to echo in our memories, and his legacy will live on forever.

Waheguru ji bless his soul and give strength to his loved ones during this difficult time. 🕊️

Morecambe FC have officially appointed Ashvir Singh Johal as their new manager! 🙌 At just 30 years old, he becomes:
✅ The first Sikh to manage a professional British football club
✅ The youngest manager across the top five tiers of English football

This comes right after the Panjab Warriors consortium completed their takeover of the Shrimps 🦐, ending months of uncertainty for the club.

Johal brings a wealth of experience from Leicester City’s academy, Wigan Athletic, Como in Italy, and Notts County. Now, he takes on his biggest challenge yet – rebuilding Morecambe and bringing exciting football back to the Globe Arena. ⚽🔥

The legendary "Turbaned Tornado," Fauja Singh, passed away at the age of 114 in a tragic road accident in Jalandhar, Punjab. A British Sikh marathoner of Indian origin, he began his running journey at 89 and completed eight full marathons, becoming a global symbol of resilience and inspiration. A true icon and patron of The Sikh Games—his legacy will continue to inspire generations. 🧡🏃‍♂️

Air India Plane Crashes After Takeoff from Ahmedabad - Over 240 On Board 🇮🇳✈️🇬🇧

Tragedy struck this morning as Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner en route to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, India. The aircraft was carrying 242 people, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members.

💥 The plane lost altitude less than a minute after departure, crashing into the Meghani Nagar area — reportedly striking a residential doctors’ hostel. Massive flames and black smoke filled the skies, as seen in heart-wrenching eyewitness videos.

🚑 Emergency crews rushed to the scene. A "green corridor" was set up for ambulances, while fire services battled flames for hours. Ahmedabad airport temporarily suspended all flights.

The cockpit was led by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal and First Officer Clive Kundar, both experienced pilots.

🕯️ Official casualty numbers are yet to be confirmed, but the impact area suggests a significant loss of life. Our thoughts are with all the families affected by this horrific crash.

💬 India's Civil Aviation Minister and Gujarat's Chief Minister are personally overseeing the situation, while UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has issued a statement offering full support to affected British nationals.

A new parking system is now in place at Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara Sahib in the Nottingham Street Car Park 🚗

What to do:
1️⃣ Applicable to the vehicles that are parked at Nottingham Street Car Park
2️⃣ Use the self-service tablet outside the Main Diwaan Hall (First Floor) within 15 minutes of parking.
3️⃣ This gives you 6 hours of free parking.
Need more time? Re-register before your time runs out.

REMEMBER:
🆓️ Parking remains FREE for all Sangat visiting the Gurdwara Sahib, after registration
🛑 The system helps ensure the car park is used only by Gurdwara visitors and prevents misuse.
🎉 On busy festival days, no registration will be needed — the Sangat will be notified in advance.

Let’s all follow the process to keep Gurdwara Sahib’s facilities accessible to all. 🙌

What an inspiring day at the Sikhlens Arts & Film Festival – UK Chapter at Phoenix Cinema, Leicester! 🎬✨

The Sikhlens team set up a stunning exhibition space, setting the stage for a day full of culture, creativity, and community spirit. The event opened beautifully with Shabad Kirtan by the talented children of Falcons Primary School, followed by a soulful song performance and an uplifting Kirtan by the Namdhari Kirtan Jatha.

We also had the pleasure of watching the Falcons Primary School 10-Year Anniversary video, a moment of pride and reflection for the local community, and a special film presented by SikhLens.

From powerful films and inspiring speakers to live music and touching moments, today truly was a celebration of Sikh heritage, unity, and creativity. 💛
