🚀 Leicester’s skyline is levelling up.

All Saints Conservation Area 🏛️ Just a short walk from the city centre lies one of Leicester’s oldest areas. It might not look much but this unused and run down historic pocket of the city sits on the north-west edge of the centre and tells stories that stretch back centuries.

These beautiful and historic buildings, like this on the corner of Highcross Sand Great Central street shape its skyline. All Saints is a reminder of Leicester’s deep roots and ever-evolving character. It’s part of the city’s Archaeological Alert Area, protecting layers of history that continue to define who we are today. We HOPE that it stays that way and someone comes along to breathe new life into it while keeping its charm.

If you haven’t explored it yet, take a stroll down Highcross Street and discover a side of Leicester that is seeing so much development it will mostly certainly surprise you.

🏗️ A major transformation will soon reshape one of Leicester’s most historic industrial sites.

Plans to transform the former Corah factory site off Burleys Way are moving forward, with more than 1,100 homes, new bars, restaurants and a hotel included in the proposed scheme.

Most of the Victorian factory would be replaced with modern flats 😕 including blocks of up to 18 storeys, while the Old Textile Building façade and two landmark chimneys are set to be retained as part of the development. Thankfully 🙏

The project is being put forward as a way to bring new life to an area that has remained largely unused since the factory closed in the 1990s. Alongside housing, the plans include a multi-storey car park, improved walking and cycling routes, and a new footbridge connecting the site to Abbey Park.

The redevelopment has drawn interest across the city, with some welcoming the potential regeneration and others focusing on the heritage value of the original buildings.

We’re all for development though we wished they’d found a way to incorporate the heritage of the original site. No dates as to when it will all go ahead yet.

🚧 Big changes are happening at ! The old entrances have now come down, marking the start of a major revamp that’s all about celebrating Leicester’s rich fashion and textiles heritage.

✨ The new look will reimagine all four entrances with bold designs inspired by garments and fabrics, think runway-style walkways, curtain reveals and even twisted pleat details. Each entrance is set to become a landmark in its own right, giving Highcross and the city centre a fresh, modern vibe.

🛍️ The work will take around six months, but it’s being done in phases so shoppers can still enjoy everything Highcross has to offer with minimal disruption.

🌆 This is just the beginning of a bigger transformation for Highcross, with even more exciting updates on the way. Leicester’s style and heritage are at the heart of it all and we can’t wait to see it come to life.

WHAT IF they left the dig site at Leiecster Market? 🤔

The archaeological works beneath Leicester Market have uncovered 2,000 years of history, including a Roman infant burial and the remains of the infamous Medieval Gainsborough Dungeon.

But What if the new market was built around these finds? A massive public viewing area where you could buy your groceries while looking down at the Roman foundations and the infamous ‘vile prison.’

A look inside Bill’s in Leicester 👀 They’re back! After closing a few years ago, has officially returned to the city reopening in their old spot.

We popped in for a first look and the space feels like a mix of cosy and modern, with that signature Bill’s touch. Think warm lighting, comfy seating, and a menu stacked with all-day favourites, from brunch classics to hearty evening dishes.

It’s not an independent which we love more than anything. But it’s a positive move for Leicester and to see bigger brands coming back to it.

🚧 Leicester Market is on the move 🙌

If you’ve walked through the city centre recently, you’ll have spotted the diggers hard at work where the market once stood. The site is being cleared and prepped as part of the huge redevelopment that will bring:

✨ A new food-focused market with 48 stalls right by the Food Hall
✨ A flexible public square designed for events, culture and community
✨ A brighter, more welcoming heart to the city

Traders are still open for business at Green Dragon Square while the transformation takes shape.

The groundwork you’re seeing now marks the shift from demolition to construction, the beginning of Leicester Market’s next chapter.

Completion is expected in stages, with the public square set to open in 2026, and the new stalls following in 2027.

Leicester’s most historic gathering place is getting ready for the future.
