Huge thank you to all the smashing small bizzers in this edition of the Little Book of Small Businesses you are the life and soul of the book and readers across the county have loved hearing about you!

Very excited to reveal the LBOSB Summer 2025 Cover!! This beautiful collage illustration by the talented Aga Kowalska, called ‘The Farm Shop’ depicting locally sourced produce and handmade items. We absolutely love the style and texture of this piece using gorgeous vibrant colours 💛💚

Aga is an illustrator from Poland, currently based in Lincoln, UK. Her creative journey took a new direction when she discovered the joy of "drawing with scissors" – a turning point that led her to work primarily with hand-painted papers. She now creates collage illustrations that celebrate colour, texture, and a slightly folky aesthetic.

Alongside her studio practice, Aga has a passion for picture books. She has been building an ever-growing collection from around the world, and this love of visual storytelling continues to inspire her work. This passion also supports her role as a lecturer on the Illustration programme at the University of Lincoln, where she finds great joy in sharing her enthusiasm for illustration with her students. In addition to her work at the university, Aga also runs creative workshops for all age groups.

HERE IT IS!! Excited to show you the latest edition of the Little Book, the Spring 2025! 🧡
Adorned with the beautiful four colour reduction lino print called ‘Take Flight’ by the wonderful RH PRINTS

The Little book has already had a lovely tour of Stamford - the gorgeous source material for the cover 🧡 - and various lovely venues across Lincolnshire.

You can pick up your copy at lots of different venues already, including; Lincoln Tourist Information Centre, Lawn Cafe and I’ll be running around loads more destinations as quick as I can!

A look back to the Winter 2024 Edition 🌟 This incredible cover illustration was created by the super talented matandhiscat and is called ‘The Twelve Ghosts of Christmas’ which comprises of many well-loved landmarks in Lincoln, with 12 little festive ghosties hidden in the windows - see if you can spot them all!

Matt is a pen & paper architectural illustrator based in Lincoln, where he runs his small business from his home studio. He produces detailed commissions for local and global clients, as well as creating original illustrations of landmarks and buildings currently focussed on Lincoln. In late 2023 he completed his ‘Haunted Lincoln’ illustration composing of 36 intricate drawings of Lincoln buildings, with wee ghosties hiding in the windows, a nod to Lincoln’s haunted history.

This edition also brought back the ‘Christmas Events’ pages, your pick of amazing markets, events and festive workshops throughout the county 🌟

The beautiful Autumn 2024 edition was adorned with the elegant, gothic-style 3-tier cake, ‘Falling Into Fall’ by the talented Mel at Cake It Or Leave It - Lincoln 🍁🧡 Go and check out her amazing portfolio of cakes, they’re quite mind blowing!

Mel has won multiple awards at Cake International and has featured in D’Licious Magazine twice! She is the most down to earth, friendly and approachable person, so get in touch with her about that custom cake you want!

A real variety of treats on the pages, including some new creative businesses, entrepreneurs, stunning events, markets, plus a variety of holistic wellness practices and health solutions 🙌

The Summer 2024 Cover, ‘Shopping Small and Local’ was designed by the utterly wonderful Mel Langton Art 💖

Mel is a Lincoln-based freelance designer and illustrator who creates unique, vibrant and uplifting original artwork, custom portraits, prints, cards, clothing, homewares and surface pattern design.

If you’re local to Lincoln, I have no doubt that you will have seen Mel’s art in action, from Lincoln Summer Scene artwork, art trail sculptures, Lincoln railway station designs for EMR to window designs for Ask Italian Mel’s artwork is synonymus with Lincoln and she is very active in the whole county’s creative endeavours.

Mel has also recently joined the Indigo Crow Gallery as a resident artist, you can find her work at the gallery and go and say ‘hi’👋 Indigo Crow Gallery were also featured in this edition, as well as so many other amazing biz. We also showcased a feature on the many fantastic female founders of businesses in Caistor too!
