ā€œThe very best of humanityā€

Beautiful words from HRH The King.

Even though I wouldn’t wish cancer on anyone, and a diagnosis is a turning point from which you are changed forever… this is one of the parts of my journey that I am most grateful for. The incredible people it brings into your life.

Honoured to have been invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace honouring those affected by cancer and those who give tirelessly to help those living with cancer and their families.

That was one of the hardest parts for me, what it does to our loved ones. It meant so much to me to be in a room with some of the most inspiring, determined, gracious and courageous people I have ever met.

The King & Queen included. Reminding me at the end of it all, they’re a family who are doing their best to deal with a life changing diagnosis too and trying to help each other through.

These last few months, running the marathon at the weekend, and last night gathering was a beautiful reminder that there’s far more good in this world than bad… the power of humankind & the unstoppable human spirit ā¤ļø

Mega Medal Monday šŸ¤©šŸ„¹šŸŒŽ

Wow!! And we’re at 97% of our fundraising target. To be honest, that’s the best medal I could ever wish for. Vital funds being raised for two incredible charities.

I couldn’t be happier or more grateful! Thank you to Team for getting me in shape for this challenge… and to every single person who has helped me & Audrey (my stoma) get here. Thanks for making these photos a reality. 6 marathons in 8months. The set is complete šŸ˜. I can’t believe it 🄰

There’s a link in my bio if you can donate or help in anyway. And once again, danke, arigatō & thank you ###

To be honest now I’ve tried it. I wouldn’t recommend having just 6 days between two major marathons plus a transatlantic flight to recover from… and a very naughty stoma thrown in for good measure… but here we are 🤣🤪😫

Praying Audrey doesn’t prolapse again and hoping these things help to scrape me off the floor haha šŸ™šŸ½

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has been sending messages of support or donating. I ā¤ļø you more than you could ever know! You’re keeping me going! Knowing how much money we are raising for the chosen charities is filling my heart with joy! You are changing and saving lives! I can’t thank you enough.

There’s a link in my bio if you can help. Every single penny goes directly to the charities themselves and I am so grateful to you for your help. I will run my heart out for you all on Sunday. My bib number is 38551 if you’d like to see how I get on. Thank you so much! Xx

This is your sign. ā€œNever give upā€ šŸ„¹šŸ™šŸ½

Posting this here in case you needed to see this today…. And for anyone like me, absolutely bricking it about running the TCS London Marathon this weekend. ME TOO 😫😭

I’m terrified. I keep doubting myself. I keep getting so overwhelmed. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I keep asking myself why I thought I could do it… especially 6 days after running the Boston Marathon… my legs are BATTERED. I can barely walk… I keep frantically googling how to get rid of DOMS 😫 Im praying I don’t have a prolapse again… and due to the flight home on Tuesday… my body and face are bloated AF. I look like a massive sausage šŸ˜‚ A big cry baby sausage haha…

But then I have a word with myself, calm down and try to I remember what’s possible. What I’ve done before…. The version of me in the photo above would have some serious words with me.

The photo above is me finishing the London Marathon in 2023… the photo that started this journey I’m currently on.

That photo is 18months after waking up in a hospital bed - just having had surgery for bowel cancer
That photo is 18 months after getting a stoma. Learning how to walk again, then shuffling … then running
12 months after finishing chemotherapy…
a treatment that ravaged my body, damaged my hands and feet and something I’m still recovering from today.

In that photo I was bloated, aching, my feet were bleeding and my body & stoma hurting so much… but I still did it. My body was fragile but my mind was so strong. I was so determined - I was determined to show what’s possible post cancer and with a stoma - and that was the thing that got me through. I knew that as soon as my feet crossed the start line I wouldn’t give up until they reached the finish. I didn’t know if I could finish but I knew I would give it my all. All I had was hope & faith.

ā€œIt doesn’t matter what you go through in life, it’s who you become in the processā€

Amen to that! So whenever you doubt yourself, or get overwhelmed or think you want to give in. Look back over your life and remember you’ve probably been here before… but you didn’t give up.. and that’s why you’re still going. I believe we all go through the very things we need to give us the strength to carry us right through where we are.

Best of luck to everyone running the London Marathon this weekend. We’ve got this! Our past selves know it!! They’re the ones who didn’t give up so we could be here ready to run this weekend!!

And if you’re a first timer I am so excited for you! It’s the greatest race on Earth!! The crowds and other runners will carry you through! As it says on our bib this year… ā€œwe run togetherā€ And I will be proudly with you, every step of the way ā¤ļø
