Spice Girls’ Scary Spice, Mel B, and her husband Rory McPhee held their second wedding celebration in Morocco from August 1 to 3, as promised a month after their first ceremony back home.

In Marrakech, the couple transformed their vows into a glamorous, multi-day affair at the Selman Marrakech hotel. They had previously tied the knot in a traditional ceremony at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral, but opted for a more «spiritual» and bold celebration in Morocco, where Mel swapped her white gown for a sparkly red Justin Alexander dress that took over 850 hours of hand-beaded craftsmanship, writes the Daily Mail.

She completed her look with a Moroccan-inspired veil, while Rory wore a modern black-tie outfit by Alexander McQueen. Mel’s stylist, Caroline Black, explained: «Mel loved the idea of a red dress, something bold, with lots and lots of shimmer, but it also had to feel light and easy to move in». Inspired by the Red City, Mel also had her hands and feet adorned with henna, a traditional ritual for brides in Morocco.

The wedding featured Moroccan lanterns, ornate table settings, and a fiery theme reflecting Scary Spice’s vibrant style. Fellow Spice Girl Melanie C attended, writing on Instagram: «What a weekend! So happy we got to share it with you», while other members like Geri and Victoria Beckham were notably absent.

Morocco holds nostalgic value for the Spice Girls, who once celebrated David Beckham’s 40th birthday there in 2015—though Mel B was the only one not in attendance at the time.

Morocco beyond Marrakech: Finding quaint towns, maze-like medinas

Iwas looking for a city in Morocco which I can visit as a side trip from Spain. I would’ve gone to popular places like Marrakech, Fes, or go on a trip for a couple of days in the Sahara Desert. However, I figured I would rather go to those places on a much longer trip. I looked for the most affordable flights from Madrid and decided to visit Tangier.

Most of my friends and acquaintances who have been to Morocco bypass this city for its more famous counterparts. Upon further research, I realized that Tangier was an interesting destination and a hub to other places that I wanted to visit. With a sense of adventure and curiosity (and a flexible itinerary), I went off to experience Tangier.

The magazine pointed out the deep experience the North African country provides, where each city reveals a unique face, distinctive rhythm, special cuisine, and unique traditional crafts.

In an article titled “One Country, Eight Cities, A Thousand Stories,” the writers shared their journey.

“We traveled hundreds of kilometers and visited famous tourist landmarks, but we feel we discovered only a small part of Morocco’s richness. The country’s true beauty lies in its diversity,” they wrote.

Where to Go Every Month of the Year for Better Weather, Fewer Crowds, and the Most Value

Hurricane-free Caribbean beaches, empty canals in Venice, and lush safaris—all can be yours in off season.

January: Marrakech
The sun is strong in Marrakech, and for much of the year it’s pretty hot, but January is the city’s coolest month—the air is downright crisp. Start off the year here and you’ll be able to wander around the souk and Jardin Majorelle for hours without desperately seeking shade. Expect sunny days in the mid-60s and cool nights that get down to 40 degrees. Those clear skies are ideal for stargazing, too, so head up to the Atlas Mountains 60 miles or so away for nighttime adventures; after a devastating earthquake in September 2023, the High Atlas Mountains region is recovering and has bounced back thanks in large part to tourism. Remember that sunset causes a big temperature drop, as is typical for a desert, so pack a proper winter jacket and a fleece, some cashmere, or both. If you’re curious and a seasoned skier, try a few runs in Oukaimeden, a ski resort in the mountains—know, however, that facilities are basic.
