It’s June and that means it’s PRIDE MONTH! Anyone who knows us knows how we will always support and love our LGBTQIA2S+ friends, and how much we believe you deserve to be in this space. We will go with you. We will hold space for you. You are important and you matter.
Today we’ll celebrate by showing extra hobby love to the queen of conversions Chloe Clegg, and this gorgeous pride themed display board she made for her beloved partner Athena. Asgard’s Rainbow road seems so appropriate for this month and Athena was kind enough to do a write up for why this board is so important to her...
“I knew that I wanted to have my roster painted in bright colours and be unique, but I also wanted to incorporate aspects of myself to it. That's why there are so many cats, mushrooms and most importantly pride flags. As a le***an, to me the pride flags are symbols of community, belonging. Joining the MCP community has given me another place where I feel like I fit in and so, bringing the two together felt natural. Whenever my partner and I turn up to events we always experience such a welcoming and friendly environment, where we can be ourselves and it's such a great feeling. This roster was created to be fun but still have meaning, a way to connect with others.
The Rainbow Pride Asgard list started, very unexpectedly, with Scarlet Witch. She was the first character that I truly connected with, both in the MCU and MCP. I had just watched Wanda Vision which does an amazing job at portraying her mental health struggles which so many of us experience in the community. I felt that her resilience to face extraordinary challenges and still keep going would be best suited to the trans pride flag. I also wanted her to have that flag because I am an ally to trans people and I try to show it whenever possible. Trans women are women, trans men are men, trans rights are human rights.
Mighty Thor to me represents love and compassion. She is worthy and wants everyone else to know they are too, so it was an easy decision to have her with the progress pride flag. Everyone is welcome and everyone is seen.
Hela's flag wasn't so much a thoughtful decision, as a personal one. Cate Blanchett, who portrays her in the MCU, is probably the start of my realising my sexuality. I didn't know it at the time but I was smitten with her as Galadriel in Lord of the Rings. So she is representing "my" flag, the le***an one.
The other flags in the list are:
Thor, Prince of Asgard: Non-binary
Beta Ray Bill: MLM gay
Valkyrie: Gender fluid
Heimdall: Asexual
Enchantress: Bisexual
Skurge: Pansexual “
Please enjoy the Queen of Conversion’s work and remember, even if you aren’t ready to come out to the party this month, you are valid, you are loved, and you are welcome here.
