Okay, I can finally say this… I’m officially covering The Blood of Dawnwalker with Bandai Namco across launch, and I am VERY excited about it!! 🩸🦷

Happy launch day!! I’ll be in Vale Sangora from today, digging into Coen, the 30-day time system, the human-by-day, vampire-by-night split, plus all the vampires, villains, cursed choices and whoever I inevitably end up getting far too attached to.

I PLAYED FABLE. 🐔😭

After years of banging on about Albion, I somehow ended up at Gamescom actually playing Fable, meeting the lovely Playground team, talking regional British nonsense with Ralph Fulton while dressed in a frilly blouse, and eventually acquiring a chicken. Naturally.

I’ve now put together my full hands-on impressions, covering Bowerstone, Wraithmarsh, combat, Will, all the little Fable details I spotted and what it truly felt like finally getting that controller in my hands!!

When Jackdaw met Jack of Blades!!! ⚔️

This week at gamescom I got around 40 minutes hands-on with Fable, caught up with some of the lovely people making it, and came away with an alarming amount to talk about!!

I cannot WAIT to tell you all what I thought. Proper impressions coming very soon once I’m back in ol’ Blighty and have sufficiently recovered from all the chicken kicking and bratwurst. 🇩🇪🐔

Walking through the Hall of Mirrors in full court dress, kissed by all that gold light, felt like stepping into a fallen society caught in amber: a soirée in the glowing, dying prestige of a civilisation that no longer exists and could never really be replicated anywhere else on earth. 👑

Fable is bringing romance, marriage and family life back, so naturally my response to Natasia Demetriou playing a brutal, sweary gothic heiress was less “what fascinating implications for Bloodstone’s political future” and considerably more can I marry her?

Nothing confirms Jenny is romanceable. This has not discouraged me in the slightest.

Playground has just given us our first proper look at the dark origins of this new Albion!!

The new History of Albion series is digging back into William Black, the Court and Albion’s first Heroes, but crucially, none of it is being presented as absolute truth. Instead, we have folklore, contradictory accounts and Brian Bifford, an historian whose confidence is already doing considerably more work than his evidence.

I’ve gone through the first entry, On the Dark Origins of Albion, in my latest video, breaking down the new lore, the murals and what it could all mean now that Jack of Blades appears to be back.
