What’s our Speciality?

It’s so important in the world today for your company to be screaming out what it’s speciality is. That’s what it’s known for. That’s what it the best at. That’s why clients keep coming back again and again for it.

Our speciality is MOTION GRAPHIC DESIGN.

Let us tell you a bit about that. Our people have been creating motion graphics for television, film, corporate and commercial channels for the past 20 years. It's what we live and breath. It’s our passion. We love it.

Motion Graphics can be described in it’s most simple form as a moving version of graphic design and everyone knows (or should!) what graphic design is. We get asked this all the time. And a good way to answer it is to say when you watch television and you see something that isn’t filmed, that’s us! In otherwords we play around with filmed footage, we manipulate it, we make it look different. We add things to it and take things away.

We can also create motion graphics without filmed footage at all. Complete animations from illustrations, or animated text driven content. In reality the amount of possibilities are endless.

In the world today, there’s a lot of (AI) tools that can create (some) of this automatically, but historically we all need expert humans to be able to craft it in the way that works. We use some of these tools now ourselves because we know HOW to use them. But we only use them if they can help advance our work.

Would you love to have a succesful process every time you undertake an animation for a client?

We certainly would and we do!

After many years of working, building and refining our processes we know what works and what doesn’t.

Here’s a few of our tips for the best process:

Communication:
Starting right from the brief stage, having the clearest communication possible helps to define properly what the client wants and how you can deliver it.

References: a client will normally come with references from YouTube or somewhere else of something they’ve seen and say ‘can you make something like this?’.

We don’t need to invent something that has never been. We need to create something that’s new. So we can take a style, another style, a look and feel, mix it with our own styles and out of this we can create something new inpired by something old. Or:

We can work with Illustrators and artists and develop a new style (think original characters, original locations, original drawings)

Visuals:
Emailing, zoom calls and phoning are all great to carry information across and we should always be on to of all these. In addition to this, we should always be supplying visuals to show what we are doing. the client will need to see visual styling to see what the animation will look like. This involves things such as:

What typography looks like
What colours will be used
What style, infographic? 3D? 2D vector based?

For this we usual create a series of style frames for the client to sign off on. These will show a range of things such as the above and more.

Animation:
Allowing the right amount of time for animation is essential. We normally animate in stages, so do 30 seconds and then have the client review and sign off. Then move on to the next 30 secs etc.

Delivery:
Once the project has been signed off and the client is happy, polish, polish and polish. This is the fun part of the process. We are doing things such as mixing the music, adding sound effects and colour grading.

In the end we will deliver on time, on budget and have a very happy client!

Do you collaborate with fellow creative companies?

We do!

There’s a lot of discussion in the creative industries about competition. What does this mean? Obviously our competitors are horrible, evil companies who are out there to steal our contracts!

No they are not. Well it’s not that simple. Of course, we always want to win our pitches and we want the business to keep flowing towards us and ouur company, but what if there is different ways to do this?

There are different ways to do this and one of the best ways to do this is to collaborate.

We work with companies all the time who are post-production based as we are but what we find is that every one is slightly different in what they are specialists in. Some are specialists in advertsing, some in fashion, some in sports.

Most do flame, but some are motion graphics and animation studios like us.

Some do sound.

Some do colour.

Sometimes 'stronger together' is the best motif. And that means that sometimes going for a pitch, or a job or project or new client, requires having the best possible team. And in these situations when we partner up with our friends in the industry we can share the work and share the credit and share the achievements but putting together our skillsets which are all different but all required.
