The reissue of The Pentangle’s 1972 album Solomon’s Seal will be celebrated with an afternoon listening party featuring vocalist Jacqui McShee and hosted by Prog magazine's Jo Kendall and Mike Barnes on Saturday October 11 at The Half Moon Putney.

Jacqui will shed some light on her favourite Pentangle album, which was originally released in 1972. Afterwards there’ll be a playback of the record in its entirety plus selected bonus tracks from the new Cherry Red two-CD deluxe reissue.

The event will run from 1pm-4pm and tickets are £12 in advance, £8 concessions (plus booking fee) and £15 on the door on the day. Each customer will get a Solomon's Seal button badge memento. Tickets are linked in the comments section below.

McShee says: “One of the most important reasons for this being my favourite is the cover. It was designed by my dear friend, the late Chris Ayliffe. They are the reason I have my career. It was also a great collection of songs. Something for everyone!”

There’ll be a chance for the audience to ask questions, and to have items signed by McShee, too.

Pentangle had formed in London in 1967 and immediately made a spectacular splash with McShee joined by other leading lights on the folk circuit, Bert Jansch (vocals/guitar), John Renbourn (vocals/guitar), Danny Thompson (double bass) and Terry Cox (drums). The name was chosen to reflect the five members of the band and also Renbourn’s fascination with the design on the shield of St Gawain in the Middle English poem Sir Gawain And The Green Knight.
