UNHEARD tells the story of Tom, a young man haunted by childhood trauma at the hands of a trusted adult woman. Years later, he finally finds the strength to report the abuse only to be ignored and dismissed by the very institutions meant to protect him.

Told with raw emotional realism and set in present-day UK, UNHEARD sheds light on the unique stigma faced by male survivors of sexual abuse, particularly when the perpetrator is female.

The film confronts cultural bias, institutional failure, and the isolating silence survivors often endure.

This film is not just a story it’s a call for justice, compassion, and truth.

Director/Writer Bio

Jordan Smith is an award-winning UK filmmaker, writer, and SFX artist. Known for The Lost Maze and Carbon Footprint, Jordan crafts bold, emotional narratives that challenge societal silence. UNHEARD is his most personal work to date, inspired by real stories and created to give voice to those who’ve been ignored for too long.

UNHEARD was born out of a deep frustration not just with the silence around male survivors of sexual abuse, but with the outright dismissal they often face, especially when the perpetrator is female. This film isn’t fiction for fiction’s sake it’s rooted in truth. Real voices. Real pain. Real injustice.

As a writer, I’ve always believed in using storytelling as a way to expose what others would rather ignore. With UNHEARD, I wanted to flip the script. We hear a lot about abuse but rarely do we hear about boys. About men. About what it does to them when the people meant to protect them look the other way.

This story isn’t comfortable. It’s not easy to tell. But it’s necessary. Because silence protects perpetrators, not survivors.

My hope is that UNHEARD challenges audiences not just to listen, but to believe. To question their biases. To recognise that abuse is not about gender it’s about power, coercion, and control. And that justice must be for everyone.
