Tribute to Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed

Today, I remember not only a great public servant, but also a dear friend whose life was a testament to dedication, humility, and truth.

Before his outstanding service as Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed distinguished himself at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, where his diligence, wisdom, and commitment to excellence left a lasting mark. He approached every task with the discipline of a true leader and the sincerity of a man who believed in doing what was right, not just what was easy.

What set him apart was his honest and realistic approach to both business and conversation. With him, you always knew where you stood. He spoke truth with grace, and he listened with the intent to understand, not just to reply. That integrity drew people to him, earning not only respect but deep admiration.

As a friend, he was genuine, dependable, and full of quiet strength. His counsel was grounded in reality, yet always carried a spark of hope. His work, his ideals, and his humanity will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Rest well, my friend. Your service was exceptional, your legacy enduring, and your friendship unforgettable.

Nana Yaa Ampem Darko Otchere

A Nation in Grief. A Heart Heavy with Loss. 🕊️🇬🇭

Today, we mourn not only as individuals, but as a nation shaken to its core.

We remember with deep sorrow the lives of:

1. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence

2. Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation

3. Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator

4. Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman, National Democratic Congress (NDC)

5. Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Former NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Atwima Nwabiagya South

6. Squadron Leader Peter Mawuli Ofori, Ghana Air Force

7. Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, Ghana Air Force

8. Sergeant Ernest Addo, Ghana Air Force

My heart is especially heavy at the loss of my dear friend, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed — a man whose kindness, wisdom, and unwavering selflessness touched so many. His service to Ghana was marked by integrity, humility, and a deep love for people and country.

This is a painful moment for all of us. We grieve not just the loss of leaders and patriots, but of sons, brothers, and friends.

May their legacies live on in the hope they gave, the lives they shaped, and the future they fought for.

May their souls rest in perfect peace. 🕊️🇬🇭
