Are you finding it hard to pitch in the current heavy royal news agenda?

It’s definitely a unprecedented time for all of us - and it’s going to be tougher to do your job - but it’s not impossible.

Keep your pitches short, succinct and personal and be respectful about chasing, especially if you know the editor is only working on royal news.

If you can take a week off pitching - then use it think about your story ideas, reassess how you’re pitching and how you can develop better relationships with journalists.

Need someone to help you brainstorm or assess over your pitch emails? I’m here for you - my DMs are open ✉️

Struggling with getting the attention of your fave editors?

My workshops and story/pitching clinics give you a chance to brainstorm story ideas, find out how to pitch successfully to editors and find out what editors love and hate.

I loved working with and helped them rework some of their pitches and story ideas 🙌🏻

Need help pitching? DM me for more info on my courses.

If PR was this easy then we’d all be doing it.

Someone said this to me the other day and it made me chuckle. Yes of course journalists and editors have a contacts list (or in my case a email acc with 30k emails 🤣) but there’s not a master list of businesses we can go to when we need them.

One of the main parts of PR is making and building relationships with journalists so they’ll regularly think of you when they need someone to help with their story.

PR is also about jumping on the news agenda and creating newsworthy and interesting stories around around your business or clients.

So, forget about getting on a list and start getting creative with you ideas!

What was your biggest generalisation about the PR/ journalism world when you first started?

Happy 2022 and a big welcome to all our new followers.

Our regular journo spotlight feature is a great way to find out more about what your favourite journalist wants to hear about - so I thought I’d start the year with more about me!

I’ve worked in journalism and PR for over 10 years - writing for nearly every national newspaper and magazine. I’ve worked on busy newspaper desks, woman’s magazines and online titles - and still write regularly for some of them.

This has given me a great insight into what I want to see from PRs and brands, but also what magazine editors and writers want and how they want to be pitched to.

I would love to hear about your lifestyle stories for 2022 and I’m also here if you need help with story ideas and how to pitch your story.
