We are sad to learn Jane Morgan, the elegant American singer who dazzled audiences in Paris nightclubs, on just about every TV variety show of her era and at the Oscars and had a hit record with the lovely standard “Fascination,” has died. She was 101.

Remembering Lionel Bart on his birthday. Bart was an English writer and composer of pop music and musicals. He wrote Tommy Steele's "Rock with the Caveman" and was the sole creator of the musical "Oliver!"(1960). Before "Oliver!", Bart's first professional musical was 1959's "Lock Up Your Daughters" followed by "Fings Ain't Wot They Used T'Be", produced by Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop. With these successes Bart played an instrumental role in the 1960s birth of the British musical theatre scene after an era when American musicals had dominated the West End.
In 1963 he won the Tony Award for Best Original Score for "Oliver!", and the 1968 film version of the musical won a total of 6 Academy Awards including the award for Best Picture.
Some of his other songs include the theme song to the James Bond film "From Russia with Love", and the songs "Living Doll" by Cliff Richard and "Do You Mind" recorded by Anthony Newley. Bart also wrote English lyrics to a Chinese popular song "The Second Spring" titled "Ding D**g Song" which became a huge hit in South-East Asia.

We're thrilled to announce a release of yet another outstanding CD: O Holy Night: Christmas with Mario Lanza.

This compilation brings together the best of Mario Lanza’s much-loved 1950-56 recordings of Christmas carols, together with other religious and devotional material from the same period, presenting them all in stereo for the first time. The technological breakthrough that has made this transformation possible is Digitally Extracted Stereo (DES), a process that converts mono recordings into multi-track stereo while preserving the full integrity of the original vocals and instrumentation. Now, with Lanza’s voice brought vividly to the fore and the orchestra enveloping rather than containing him, both are revealed with a previously unheard clarity and brilliance.

We are taking orders now and will ship at the latest by August 10.

Remembering Tab Hunter on his birthday. Hunter was an American actor, singer, film producer, and author. Known for his blond hair and clean-cut good looks, Hunter starred in more than forty films. During the 1950s and 1960s, in his twenties and thirties, Hunter was a Hollywood heart-throb, acting in numerous roles and appearing on the covers of hundreds of magazines. Hunter also had a music career in the late 1950s; in 1957, he released a no. 1 hit single "Young Love". Hunter's 2005 autobiography, "Tab Hunter Confidential: The Making of a Movie Star", was a bestseller.

Remembering Merv Griffin on his birthday. Griffin was an American television show host and media mogul. He began his career as a radio and big band singer, later appearing in film and on Broadway. From 1962 to 1986, Griffin hosted his own talk show, The Merv Griffin Show.
