I’ve never seen a petrol station offer this.

EV drivers are making money by charging.

The &Charge app allows EV drivers to report any problems, upload photos, review charging locations and complete simple checks at charging sites.

In return, drivers can earn rewards including charging credit and vouchers.

And it can help pay for the actual charge 🤯

For charge point operators, it provides something their remote systems can’t always give them, real information from someone actually standing at the charger.

That can help identify problems faster, reduce unnecessary site visits and ultimately improve reliability.

It’s a simple idea, but a great one.

EV drivers help improve the charging network, operators get better information, and drivers get rewarded for helping.

EVs have moved from early adopters to mass adoption.

For years, electric cars were described as something that they would never catch on.

That argument is becoming increasingly difficult to make.

In the first eight months of 2026, 25.6% of new cars registered in the UK were fully electric.

In August, that reached 29.8%, almost 1 in 3 new cars.

Private ownership is accelerating too.

There were more than 860,000 privately owned electric cars on UK roads by the end of Q1 2026, with 83,136 added in just three months, the biggest quarterly increase on record.

And there are now more than 2 million electric cars on UK roads overall, according to the AA.

This is what the transition from early adoption towards the mass market looks like.

But that success creates the next challenge…

Charging infrastructure has to continue developing to keep hitting demand, we need trained mechanics, education and awareness to continue.

Millions more drivers will need reliable charging at home, at work, on residential streets and on longer journeys.

However, the conversation is moving away from whether people will buy EVs, towards how quickly can we build the infrastructure needed to support them.

EV adoption isn’t finished, in fact it’s still just getting started.

But EVs are no longer a tiny niche on the edge of the car market, and every myth associated with them is fading away.

Liverpool’s largest bus depot is now ELECTRIC.

The diesel savings are absolutely massive.

Stagecoach’s Gillmoss depot has been transformed to support more than 100 battery-electric double-decker buses.

54 dual-socket 60kW chargers.

108 charging sockets.

New 5MVA grid connection.

Three substations.

Three low-voltage panels.

Smart charging that shifts demand into cheaper periods to reduce energy costs.

This is what the transition to electric transport actually looks like at scale.

More than 100 large electric buses, operating day after day, all returning to the same depot to charge, with the electrical infrastructure and smart charging designed around their operational requirements.

We constantly hear that “the grid won’t cope” with electrification.

Yet while people are still arguing about whether it can be done, projects like this are actually being built.

Australia’s largest public DC EV charging station has officially opened.

BP Pulse has opened a new 24-stall charging hub near Melbourne International Airport, taking the record from Tesla for the largest public DC charging site in Australia.

The site includes 20 Ă— 150kW charging connections alongside 4 Ă— 300kW chargers.

And this is what modern charging infrastructure should look like.

Half the bays are covered by a canopy, while the other half have been designed for pull-through charging, making them much easier to use for EVs towing trailers.

There’s clear signage, room for future expansion, bins and recycling facilities, picnic tables and toilets planned for the site too.

Charging starts at $0.72 AUD/kWh for the 150kW chargers and $0.79 AUD/kWh for the 300kW chargers, with activation available through RFID or the BP Pulse app, plus partner-app options.

Another big investment in EV infrastructure, another charging record broken, and another example of what’s happening as electric vehicle adoption continues to grow around the world.

24 rapid/ultra-rapid charging connections in one location, and still space to grow.

This is the direction of travel now.
