SHE STOOD ALONE AT THE GAS STATION—THEN THE OFFICER TOOK HER HAND
The elderly woman stood beside her car, looking lost. Cars came and went, people passed by, but no one stopped. She clutched her purse tightly, her eyes scanning the gas pump as if trying to make sense of it.
That’s when the officer approached.
“Ma’am, do you need some help?” he asked gently.
She looked up at him, relief washing over her face. “I—I don’t know how to use these new machines,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “My husband always did this.”
The officer nodded, no judgment in his eyes. “Don’t worry, I’ve got you.”
He filled her tank, swiped his own card when she struggled with hers, and then, before she could speak, he pulled her into a hug.
She clung to him for a moment longer than expected. And when she finally spoke, her words made his throat tighten.⬇️

AM I WRONG FOR BEING UPSET THAT MY 71-YEAR-OLD MOM SPENT HER MONEY ON TRAVELING INSTEAD OF HELPING ME WITH MY BILLS?
My mom is retired and has plenty of savings, but instead of helping me pay off my credit card debt, she's blowing money on trips to Europe and cruises.
She says she's "finally enjoying life," but what about my life? I'm struggling, and she just watches while sipping cocktails on a beach. Parents are supposed to support their kids—not abandon them for vacations.

"Sweetheart, I worked my whole life, saved carefully, and went without luxuries so you could have everything you needed.
Now that I can finally enjoy the world, you expect me to put your financial mistakes ahead of my happiness?
