LISTENING PARTY TONIGHT! Join us at 8pm to check out the new album SUN GOD FRAUD SQUAD ahead of its release tomorrow - the link is in our bio. Featuring tracks by some of the most interesting sonic and visual artists working today, including Lucy Armstrong, Nurah Faraht, Nik Colk Void, Craig Coulthard, Django Django, Luke Fowler & Victoria Morton, Earthworks, Haroon Mirza and Helga Dorothea Fannon.

Each artist was invited to respond to a set of six illustrated manuscripts, discovered in 1937 but believed to originate from 5th-6th century Egypt. On these mysterious parchments, dubbed ā€˜The Music of the Spheres’, are painted many circles of different sizes and colours, alongside fragments of enigmatic text. It has long been theorised that these comprise a very early example of music written in a notated form, although a definitive translation remains elusive.

Each artist interpreted this visual material in their own ways, leading to a beautifully diverse and yet coherent body of music. From the choral polyphony of composer Lucy Armstrong’s ā€˜Dot Reverie’ via Nik Colk Void’s angular abstractions in ā€˜Sheet 5 (Piano)’, to SOTTO’s expansive and experimental 'Night Fall' and the brooding acid of Django Django’s ā€˜Temple Dogs’, the album is a fascinating and sophisticated collection of music.

At .shock this evening, OUTPUTS will be presenting a selection of short films and tracks from artists who we've been privileged to work with over the last 5 years of the label's existence. From the one that started everything off - Haroon Mirza and Jack Jelfs' shamanic sci-fi rituals at CERN - to Marianna Simnett's fusion of myth and machine learning, via Rosa Barba's enigmatic dreamscapes. These will be interspersed between performances and DJ sets from a range of incredible artists. It starts at 7pm, get there early!
