Omg!
In 2004, a remarkable and almost unbelievable case was reported in Mexico, where a 40-year-old woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy by performing a Caesarean section on herself using a kitchen knife. The woman, who lived in a remote rural area without electricity, running water, or proper sanitation, was an eight-hour drive from the nearest hospital. She had previously lost a child due to labor complications, and when she was unable to deliver naturally, she made the extraordinary decision to take matters into her own hands.
According to Dr. R.F. Valle of Dr. Manuel Velasco Suarez Hospital in San Pablo, Mexico, the woman consumed three small glasses of hard liquor and then, in three separate attempts, cut her abdomen with a kitchen knife to deliver the infant. The baby was born alive, breathing immediately and crying. Before losing consciousness, the mother instructed one of her children to call a local nurse. Using a sewing needle and cotton thread, the nurse stitched her wound, after which both mother and child were transferred to the nearest hospital for professional medical care.
Dr. Valle described the case as “an unusual and extraordinary decision by a woman in labor, who, with no medical assistance or resources available, performed a Caesarean section on herself to save her baby.” This incident remains one of the very few documented instances of a successful self-performed C-section.
