Thank you so much to everyone who turned up to our first ever event yesterday, Ambitious Young People in Business, that we hosted alongside some other incredible businesses and organisations.

It was so refreshing to be able to network with like-minded and inspiring young people that felt comfortable, seen and welcomed in a room full of entrepreneurs. 🥰

We hope this is going to be the first of many events, we are so grateful to have had a room full of people yesterday.

We are so excited to be a part of this incredible event happening on the 26th September at Patch in Chelmsford.

The lovely Annie Byford from Spectrum-merchandising.com came to us with an idea to launch a networking event specifically aimed at young people. Whether you're thinking of starting up your own business but want a little encouragement or inspiration, or you're just starting out in your career and looking for ways to inspire you to progress, or you just would love to meet with likeminded young people!

We honestly wish there was an event like this when we were first starting out with Social Bee!

On the day, we will be doing a talk about all things entrepreneurship, how we started out and the struggles we go through as a young female entrepreneurs. The Social Bee team have helped Annie to market the event alongside some other amazing businesses who have helped to make this happen - so a huge shout out to Essex County Council, Ambitious Women in Essex, Let's Do Business Group & Backing Essex Business.

Happy Monday! Here’s another Meet The Team for you… Introducing the other half of Social Bee, Tig. Tig is our copywrite Queen and also our clients’ point of call.

Hi, I’m Tig… Social Bee’s other Director. 👋

👩🏼‍🎓 After graduating from the University of Portsmouth in 2018 with a BA in Media Studies & Entertainment Technology, I began freelance work within the social media marketing industry where I helped businesses set up and create their social media platforms.

🫶🏼 In doing so, I discovered a passion for working alongside businesses and helping their brands flourish through optimising their social media marketing. I then landed a job in a small start-up agency where I was an Account Manager, funnily enough this is where I met Emily (our Founder).

🐝 After working a year and a half in this agency, and learning about Emily setting up Social Bee, we decided to see ways in which we could run this smoothly together. We learnt a lot along the way, finding out the do’s and don’t’s that our current agency faced during it’s start-up and decided to take the plunge together.

⏭️ Fast-forward to today, I head up our international communications and clients and together myself and Emily have created ourselves a job we genuinely are excited to get up for!

It’s been a while since we introduced our team members, so here’s a little hello from us…

👋 Hi, I’m Emily, the Founder and Co-Director of Social Bee.

🐝 I created Social Bee back in 2020 after graduating from the University of Brighton with a BA in Media Studies. The intention was to do freelance work on the side to keep my degree in good practise whilst I searched for a full-time job in the middle of the first lockdown.

💡 After over a year of searching, I worked in a couple of small agencies doing roles that didn’t make me feel valued, challenged or happy. That’s when I decided it was time to put all my energy into Social Bee, and trial going at it alone.

😬 Going down the self-employed route with zero business knowledge or experience was a huge (and very scary) jump. I was winging it as I was going and learning things along the way but most of all it has been the best couple of years of my life.

⏩ Fast forward to 2023… alongside my business partner, we have built up a team and we provide social media marketing services across the globe. Our goal is to help businesses all over the world to grow & expand their online marketing - there is no better feeling than seeing a brand flourish and exceed its goals due to the benefits of having buzzing socials & a killer marketing strategy!

𝕏 The everything app is coming…but is that a good thing?

I’m sure you’ve all seen the news that Elon Musk is changing Twitter (yet again), this time with a complete rebrand.

So long to the blue birds and tweets, say hello to X.

Musk’s vision is for an app that encapsulates everything, much like China’s “WeChat”, and while the idea of an app that can do everything is certainly ambitious, we can’t help but feel sceptical about this sudden change.

Twitter has been an established brand for a long time, and its blue birds and tweets are iconic. The switch to 'X' seems risky and might alienate loyal users. Digital designers have pointed out that abandoning such a recognisable brand could be a significant mistake.
