She’s always loved talking to mannequins when we’re out, and now the Halloween decorations have officially joined her crew. 😂🎃
I love seeing her so comfortable being completely herself, chatting away, sharing her thoughts and finding connection in her own way.

Sophie and Charlie haven’t asked me to share this at all, but honestly… I feel like I have to because our experience at Rainbow Pony Rides was incredible. 🐴

From the moment we arrived, they were so calm, patient and understanding with both children. They took the time to explain everything, let them go at their own pace and never rushed or pressured them.

We brought carrots and apples for the ponies, and the children even got to help chop them up before feeding them. 🥕🍎🐴

What really stood out to me was how relaxed they both were in an environment they had never been to before. They got to groom, pet, feed and ride the ponies, all in such a beautiful and peaceful setting.

For me, the most special part was that the experience was adapted around the children. Every visit is tailored to the individual child’s requirements — and you could genuinely feel that. 🤍

Rainbow Pony Rides is a charity for disadvantaged and seriously ill children aged 4–16. It isn’t specifically an autism service, but as a SEN parent, I can honestly say that the patience, understanding and individualised approach made such a difference to us.

And knowing this is a charity makes the experience even more special. 🐴🤍

Thank you Sophie and Charlie for making our visit so lovely and, most importantly, for making the children feel so comfortable.

I look how I feel. Today’s meeting left me with more questions than answers. 💔

Thea wants to be at school. She wants to see her friends, learn, play and be part of everything her peers are doing.

But she is currently on a reduced timetable and missing lunchtime and the afternoon.

Help a mama out… because I’m going back into our weekly meeting tomorrow and, honestly, this whole situation is making me feel really ill. 🤍

Thea’s mental health is going downhill.

And I completely understand that she is struggling. I understand that school are trying to manage things, and I understand that these days are hard for everyone involved.

But the hardest part for me is that she wants to be at school.

She wants to learn.
She wants to play with her friends.
She wants to be included.
She wants to feel like she belongs.

And now she’s missing out on so much because so many of the things she loves happen in the afternoon.

No school photos.
No Forest School.
No PE.
Less time with her friends.

And then, completely out of nowhere, at about 6pm the other evening while we were picking up our shopping, she said:

“Mummy, I don’t want to do half days anymore.”

💔

She wasn’t asking for anything complicated.

She just wants to go to school.

I know there isn’t a magic answer here. I know her needs have to be considered. But surely there has to be a way forward that doesn’t leave her feeling like she is missing out on her own childhood.

So… help a mama out.

What would you be asking at that meeting tomorrow?

Because right now, I feel like I’m going round in circles and I just want someone to listen to what she is actually saying. 🤍

I’ve really struggled to be present on here since school started back up. Because in the background it’s been pretty hard going! There has been times I’ve even been emailing the school gone 12 at night. It’s exhausting and trying to stay afloat is hard.. but finally we are getting somewhere..
